Keep It 100 Challenge Winners
Official Results for an Unofficial Challenge
Almost exactly one year after my "return" (arrival) to Vocal I've been able to celebrate publishing one hundred stories with the hosting of the Keep It 100 Unofficial Challenge! And what a wonderful experience it has been! I'm so grateful to everyone who submitted an entry, to Vocal for making this event possible, to my friends who volunteered to serve as the judging panel, and my husband who organized the excel data!
The challenge required writers to include the phrase "one hundred" or a close variation within a 75-125 word poem or microfiction. There were 22 poems and 13 micros submitted.
Entries were assessed on the following criteria:
- Originality & Creativity
- Organization & Clarity
- Language Use & Style
- Overall Impression
I knew going into this endeavor that I would need some outside help. Being objective when it comes to judging writing is just not something I can do. Thankfully I had some wonderful people in my life step up to the plate and evaluate all of the entries. I'm really glad they were willing to provide their input and feedback because as I suspected some entries that maybe didn't resonate as strongly with me were stand outs for some of the panelists.
Before delivering the results I would like to highlight each entry and share some of the strengths that each piece had based on the panel's responses.

Congratulations to all the winners! And thank you again to everyone who participated in the challenge! You've honored me greatly with all your wonderful entries! I hope to host one again! Maybe at the 200 story milestone, but don't worry the prompt won't be to use the phrase "two hundred"!
