Buckaroo Borden
A Sonnet that Keeps it One Hundred for D.K. Shepard

Sir Robert Borden, blustering tory!
Teacher, lawyer, banker, legislator;
One of many authors of our story
You look like a gruff, disgruntled waiter!

Your zeal for war moved you to conscript boys
Which filled Quebec with mad indignation;
Their sons they did not want to be your toys
In bloody games far from our cold nation

Of suffrage you were a bold champion
War measures you were happy to enact
Knighted you were by island Albion
To you, we owe an income tax...exact

One hundred dollar notes wear your moustache
Who better, to be patron saint of cash?

You are warmly encouraged to congratulate D.K. Shephard for the publication of their one hundredth story, and to take part in this challenge, devised to celebrate that sweet centennial:

I found this highly educating!
Cleverly done! Like Shaun… it was a history lesson for me.
This was both informative and entertaining! "You look like a gruff, disgruntled waiter!" made me chuckle! And I love what you did with the prompt, D.J. Very creative and executed so well! Very honored you entered it in the challenge!
My mom was a Borden and Robert's in our Family Tree (Lizzie too). I enjoyed your poem very much!
This is a great interpretation of the challenge!
