I Wished Upon a Billion Stars

For You

I wished upon a billion stars,

stored memories in a million jars.

I cried one hundred thousand tears

and prayed for you ten thousand prayers.

I thought of you a thousand times.

I tried to write one hundred rhymes.

I swore Iโ€™d give ten lifetimes away,

If I could have you for one more day.

*

I opened a memory jar today,

and laughed ten times at things youโ€™d say.

A hundred smiles did soon replace

the thousand teardrops on my face.

Ten thousand moments, there and gone;

one hundred thousand more live on.

Your answer soothed a million scars,

When I wished upon a billion stars.

I like to read rhyming poetry in my head and wish I could record reading them out loud to see how the rhythm I would do a piece lines up with how the author would. I did this exercise in my head when reading yours, checking out the pacing. thanks for the opportunity!

This poem is a beautiful and poignant expression of love and loss. The vivid imagery and heartfelt emotions create a powerful connection with the reader. The contrast between the initial pain and longing and the eventual acceptance and gratitude is beautifully captured. It's a reminder that even in the darkest of times, hope and healing can emerge.
