Time will tell…
a microfiction
Greedy galahs grazed… swaying on grass seeds. Limp laundry flapped despondently. My energetic dog dragged me past your neglected house.
Twelve months ago, all was well… it seemed.
Lawns immaculately trimmed like a fastidious gent’s beard… garden edges, knife sharp, not a pesky weed in sight! Your pint-sized dogs broadcasted their canine alarm, rendering futile, our attempts to quietly pass. Smiling, we sought to restore solitude to the slumbering neighbourhood in dawns’ pale rays.
Twelve swift weeks later, a melancholic cloak clung to your home as it silently watched us trek by.
One dull day I learnt of your shattered family… I felt useless.
💯 days ticked over. Our dog walking paths crossed. A faint smile flitted across your face… a fragile sign of life.

My heart. This is simultaneously sad and hopeful.
This packed such an emotional punch in just a few words! The difference in the house's exterior corresponding to the reveal of the fracture relationships playing out in the interior was just brilliant! Very honored that you entered it in the challenge!
Great entry, and good job in creating such a filled out works in such a small space
