In the Dark We Dream
For D.K. Shepard's "Keep it 100 Challenge"
They say the dark is cold and harsh,
but I see it as nothing but an old friend
waiting with open arms to envelope me
in a peaceful embrace of calm and tranquility.
It is in the dark that the blinding light of day becomes bearable,
and the sky transforms into a beautiful tapestry
of a hundred revolving stars and possibilities.
It is in the dark that my soul awakens when all else sleeps;
when my mind's eye travels beyond
the confines of this mortal coil
to touch those twinkling dreams - those aspirations
just out of reach.
They say the dark is cold and long,
but it is the only place where dreamers
can dare to dream.

A lovely little poem. My favorite lines were the opening ones. they made me want to discover what this meant to you since its different from what people often say "They say the dark is cold and harsh, but I see it as nothing but an old friend"
A lovely poem for the challenge… my favourite lines are: “ It is in the dark that the blinding light of day becomes bearable, and the sky transforms into a beautiful tapestry of a hundred revolving stars and possibilities.” I just can’t go past stars!🙃
Very good!!!
Outstanding poem, Amanda! Very honored that you entered it in the challenge! I agree wholeheartedly with Alexandria, the craving for the positive attributes of darkness was a refreshing perspective!
I read this on Discord and absolutely loved it. Darkness is one of those things that sometimes we associate with more negative things like fear or trauma. It is so nice to see it in a more positive light. Great job and I hope your poem places in the challenge!
