Turtle
For D.K. Shepard’s ‘Keep it 100 Challenge’ - Microfiction

Her body rocks in the ocean’s gentle sway as she follows the earth’s magnetic pull. For a hundred years she’s travelled these waters, her discoloured shell a testament to her survival. From sun rippled reefs to sunken ships, long forgotten, her travels have taken her far.
She exists as one with this ocean, her life indistinguishable from its briny depths. Countless eggs buried in warm sands are the legacy she leaves behind.
But tonight, she’ll swim a different sea as the earth releases its grasp. Cosmic waves will carry her now and her dreams will fill the heavens.

Wonderful warming story and love the Terry Pratchett style image
I loved this, Heather. That moment where the turtle leaves Earth was so calm and tranquil. It had a real timeless quality to it.
I appreciate this story a lot, as it recalled octopus moms, and this is a much more hopeful ending (but for cosmic turtles)
Congratulations on top story!!!
