Shoulder to shoulder,
We'll stand side by side,
One hundred times over.
We'll watch the wheel spin,
Roll the dice across the table,
Throw our chances to the wind.
Hoping for that one possibility,
We continue to press our luck,
Until our pockets turn up empty.
The neon lights will glow,
Long into the night,
As the clock seems to slow.
The combinations are endless,
The permutations are exponential,
All odds stacked against us.
And yet your hand somehow,
Always finds mine,
Maybe not forever but for now.

Oh, this is beautiful. Love the honesty in those final words. They're not a dismissal, but more a "as long as we have each other, now, that's all that matters" which is all any of us can hope for in the present. We hope and believe and trust that there will be a forever, but I think losing sight of the now and that two people have each other right now, is far more important. Thank you for sharing this as one of the submissions, been blown away by all of your entries.
I love to read everyone's challenges entries. Were there additional inspirations beyond the challenge for this?
Very creative take on the challenge ✅.
Beautiful, I love the pacing of this whole scene. Thank you for sharing.
Alyssa! I have chills! This is so freaking fantastic! The imagery, the rhyme, the emotional turmoil are all done so brilliantly! Absolutely thrilled that you entered it in the challenge!
