Top Story Story

i’ve been tossing about the idea

of writing a Top Story story

to bask and perhaps revel,

a second slice of that moment of glory

but i needed a bit of something else

something else that i could show ‘em

i though about it as you do

and then i wrote this Top Story poem

yeah i know this is cheesy

and a little bit greasy

but i’m just going easy

and maybe a little bit peasy

just a few words

to accompany my links

and maybe a few more

after a coupla drinks

i put a decent record on

(Flowers - Icehouse)

to help these few words flow

don’t tell anyone its only nine AM

(pah - that’s just a minor detail)

no one needs to know

so i’m rocking out and getting pissy

which is pretty much par for this course

doubt comes to crash my private party

making me feel this as fake and forced

in spite of this the words still spill

in fractured fragments or complete and whole

i re-arrange, adjust and change, i stage the strange

all whilst trying to avoid a plot hole of droll

i don’t know where the words come from

but i know where they eventually go

i add a little heart and guts, some bells and whistles

and then shine them for the show

i don’t know how i did it

especially when you look at the odds

the words flow from the ends of my fingers

and into the hands of the Vocal gods

i figured i've got enough now

here are my Top Stories once again

and if you think you’ve had enough

…ya just gotta say when!
