Next Tide
the next cycle?
these waves of depression
are pounding my shores
relentlessly until cessation
and then nothing
until the next tide
the next change
the next ride
the next strange
one moment elation
and the next
a deluge of hurt
compound by distance
compounded by pain
crashing bashing thrashing
again and again and again
until the next rise
the next crest
the next tide
the next best
i have no control
over this overwhelming
abject misery
it does as it pleases
it haunts and it teases
it folds and it creases
but it never releases
its not finished with me
i'm not finished you see
i know i’ll never be free
i opened this door
and then lost the key
until the next high
the next slide
the next buy
my very next tide
this is not a forever thing
it’s just a little piece
a fractional timing anomaly
never to be released
this is merely a transitional phase
my humanity slapping my face
i'm dumping on me so i can see
my here and now, my place
until the next best well
the next plummeting ride
next flotsam ridden swell
and until the next tide
