Sisyphus’ Quiet Quitting
I’ve been doing it for three thousand years. I think, more or less. I lost count of days and nights. Yes, I have to roll this huge rock at night, too. Up and down, up and down. I roll it up, almost to the top, it rolls down under its weight and I have to start over.

Burned, No Notice*
The air marshal hated this part of his job. A particularly unruly passenger got too drunk on the layover between his flight from Moscow to Paris at the Istanbul airport and had a physical altercation with someone who tried to calm him down. The drunk needed to be restrained, it took a lot of convincing for the victim not to file an official complaint, but the perpetrator was still stubbornly trying to board his next flight to Paris.

About a month ago, I spotted a pretty beat-up but still beautiful cedar chest at our local Good Shepard store. Made by Lane Co. of Altavista, Va. probably about a hundred years ago, it has the Aroma-Tite seal that doesn’t betray expectations: The chest still smells like cedar.
