A short call botched by an event in progress
This call happened on August 1, 2024 as Trump heard of the US-Russia-Germany prisoner swap.
“Hello, Vlad?”
“Yes, Donnie, can’t really talk right now, with the prisoner swap underway…” [rushed]
“Wait, that’s exactly what I’m calling about. How could you, Vlad?! How could you!”
“What do you mean, Donnie?”
“You promised me that you’d do prisoner swap when I become president again, like on day one!”
“Yeah, my boy Krasikov couldn’t wait in the German prison any longer. Cancer, I’m told.”
“Oh. I see. Is my boy Whelan in the package?”
“Yes, Donnie.”
“Awww, but you promised to give him to me only, that’s what I promised his family, Vlad! That’s what I promised my supporters, too!”
“Biden wouldn’t give me Krasikov, Donnie, if Whelan and Gershkovich were not a part of the swap.”
“Oh, I don’t care about that disloyal bad Jew, Gersh…. whatever his name is, Vlad, but Whelan! You promised me you’d give him to me!”
“Again, Donnie, couldn’t wait that long. But imagine, Biden is so stupid, he’d agreed to take a couple of my deadbeat so called opposition leaders! [chuckles] So stupid, I’d give them to him for free!”
“Like you did with Navalny?”
“That’s a low blow, Donnie, bye!” [hangs up]
Trump, looking at the phone, “I can’t believe he just did that! Does he think I won’t win the election now? Why couldn’t he wait? Cancer, my ass! I can’t believe he did this to me!”
