More info about some of the most commonly recognized phobias....
Claustrophobia - being overwhelmed in a tight space - can be triggered by trains, planes, and small automobiles, tunnels, elevators, caves, MRI imaging machines, basements, even just thoughts of being in a confined space. Roughly 12.5% of the population suffer from claustrophobia. Some are preoccupied with thoughts of suffocation. Many have the sensation that the walls are closing in on them.
Arachnophobia - not even having the capacity to tap on a spider emoji 🕷️ - As an example, one woman with this fear caused a multi-car accident when a spider crawled out from under her driver's side visor, inches from her face. She declined taking a lucrative job in Georgia when she found out they have "giant banana spiders" in the Peach State.

Arachnophobia affects 1 in 3 woman and nearly as many men. This phobia can be related to obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Exposure therapy can be beneficial: first being exposed to cartoons of spiders, then pictures of tiny spiders, then photographs of bigger spiders, then videos of spiders, and eventually holding a dead tarantula.
{ See how one superpowered woman deals with spiders... }
Agoraphobia can manifest in many debilitating ways. Some people become totally housebound. Some experience a 'buried alive' sensation; if they venture outside, their knees are likely to give out and they will collapse. Others become so apprehensive that are unable to leave their beds for long periods of time. Different triggers may come into play, like not being able to go outside during specific conditions: on sunny, or snowy, or rainy days. They often will restrict their family members, afraid if they leave the house they could be harmed. This phobia has a severe impact on individual's lives.
Beyond what it means to be shy, Social Anxiety Disorder causes people to be fearful of negative scrutiny and public humiliation.
They may be wary of attending social events, forming new relationships, going to a job interview, eating while others watch. Besides anxiety, it may have numerous physical symptoms, such as blushing, sweating, and shaking.
Patients learn it is much easier to change behavior if their change their feelings.

I had no idea omphalophobia (fear of belly buttons!) was an actual phobia 😳 This was such an interesting read. So many I’d never even heard of before.
A very interesting list of phobias. Never heard of most of them. Great job.
I enjoyed peanut butter sticking to the roof of your mouth phobia... very inclusive. I wonder if there is a phobia of dropping food on your shirt?? Name it!! great fun Bill.
Wow! What an epic list! 😮 I done learnt something today. Thanks Bill!
I studied a lot of these in my Abnormal psych course and some I never heard of till now. Good work.
How fascinating! I didn’t know about many of these phobias! I love peanut butter and can’t imagine how it would feel having a phobia to it. At different times in my life, I have experienced agoraphobia and social anxiety. I think they come back every now and then. I have a fear of being submerged in water that is actually terrifying. It’s funny because I love the sea and love boating, sailing, and cruising. But I am not able to swim because I panic.
I have slight Brontophobia...but the canines at home have it bad! Thanks for sharing, Bill.
There are so many phobias here I've never even heard of. I've known people who feel funny eating peanut butter, but I didn't know there was an actual phobia of it getting stuck to the roof of your mouth. Thanks for sharing, that was an interesting morning read.
