Confession Time
Confession Time is a live radio show that also streams as a podcast to expand the audience, which is now estimated at 12 million people. It is hosted by a young male with a pleasant radio voice and a professional retired therapist, a wise grandmother character. The 30-min show takes up to three calls from complete strangers who want to work through something they need to confess on air. The calls are always authentic (not selected or screened by the show producers) and anonymous. To ease the callers, their voice is modified during the call. The show uses simulated audience reaction noises administered by the host, but there’s no audience at the studio. Below is a transcript of one of its shows.

The Stress of Experiencing disability on the Mind
Life is stressful- no one can avoid that reality. We have all been in the familar situation at night where we are so worried about tomorrow, we cannot fall asleep. However my experience with insommia was taken to extremes in my teens. I would have to be honest and say my life naturally has more stress in it and I do not handle it well. I had severe cerebral palsy, was a social outcast and had tremendous pressure from my family to succeed. I was never supposed to be able to walk. I had a surgery when I was eight to make it possible. Before surgery my feet were so inward I triped on them making every strained step. This is because it felt like weights were on my feet and too heavy to even lift off the ground. I had a surgery to help my feet reach the ground and turn straight. I missed grade two to learn how to walk. From the time I was small life demanded a lot of me. My parents however expected more and unrealistically so.

Flu Season in the US Is the Most Intense It’s Been in at Least 15 Years
Why This Flu Season Is Breaking Records Several factors have converged to create this year’s “perfect storm” of flu activity. First, the dominant strain—H3N2—is notorious for its ability to mutate rapidly, reducing the effectiveness of seasonal vaccines. While this year’s shot offers some protection, its mismatch with circulating variants has left many vulnerable. Compounding the problem is what experts call an “immunity gap.” During the pandemic, masking and social distancing suppressed flu transmission for nearly three years, leaving people—especially children—with fewer natural defenses. Now, as society returns to normalcy, the virus is spreading unchecked.

All aboard the hot mess express. Content Warning.
It all started last week when my labs before treatment came back with high kidney levels and low blood pressure. So it it got rescheduled for Feb 4th. February fourth came and for some reason, my blood pressure was pretty low. They were slightly concerned but we continued anyway. I fell asleep for a while during treatment and woke up sweating so badly. We assumed it was a hot flash and didn’t think it was something serious. I went home that night and hydrated as best as I could before falling asleep for that night.
