Betrayed by blood: Turning the Tide

Rebuilding my future under the worst conditions ever

Part one, in case you missed it:

Two weeks in, and I am already proving that I still can beat the odds. Despite the chaos my so-called biological family threw at me, I have managed to push forward and make some serious progress.

But it came at a price. I barely got the sleep I needed, burning through the night after night, my mind racing, my body running on fumes. My job, the looming threat of homelessness, and a mountain of financial headaches demanded my attention. And, to make matters worse, the internet provider cut off my access. My biological mother “forgot” to pay her bill for months. Then she had the audacity to blame her money problems on me, even claiming her pub bill was my fault. That moment made one thing clear: lies about me are swirling in the background, and I have no doubt who is behind them.

Anyway…

First big win, I gathered enough money for the deposit and the first month’s rent. That alone was a tremendous relief, giving me a real shot at securing a place on my own. Next, I tackled the issue with my seized salary and bank account. It took some strategic moves and a lot of patience, but I managed to solve it. Now, I finally have access to my hard-earned money again, and I don’t have to worry about financial roadblocks keeping me trapped.

I requested the missing money from my adoptive father’s last will. Despite the lack of internet, I exchange quite a lot of emails with the lawyer who is in charge of my part of the heritage. I used the free WiFi at the train stations. Unfortunately, there was not enough left to completely resolve the issue. But then, something incredible happened. My adoptive mother stepped in and raised the remaining amount. Thanks to her, I could finally put this major problem behind me.

In the coming week, I have an important meeting with my bank to plan and secure my financial future. This will be a crucial step in ensuring that I never have to go through this kind of financial turmoil again. And to top it all off, my company has offered to help me as much as they can. Their support has been invaluable, restoring a sense of hope and reminding me that there are still good people willing to lend a hand.

But the biggest step forward?

I found a new apartment outside of Hamburg, and it looks like it could be mine for the next two years. I already signed the contract and sent it to the landlord. The only thing left is his signature, and hopefully, that will be settled within the next week. If all goes well, I will have a one-room apartment to call my own, a place where I can finally start fresh without anyone sabotaging me.

I know I am not yet safe, but I am optimistic that within the next few days, everything will be settled, and I can finally start making my next moves toward the future I have planned.

Before I wrap this up, I have to give a huge shout-out to a dear friend of mine living in Mauritius. Despite facing his own serious struggles, he offered his help unconditionally again. He even took on additional work, just to support me. That kind of selflessness is rare, and I will never forget it.

This battle is not over yet, but the tide is turning.
