Ode to Our Superheroes
Today’s the day we give a few special family members a brief salute - our grandparents. We love having them in our lives, which they enrich with their knowledge of historical events, entertaining stories, and jokes, no matter how bad they are. Let's not forget that many of them are also our babysitters! Like many others, mine, who have sadly passed, served as a second set of parents when mine were away at work.

A Hurricane's Woes
August 29, 2005 was the day Nature reminded the world of the effects of climate change with its unleashing of Hurricane Katrina. The Category 3 storm drowned the streets of New Orleans owing to severe levee breaches, and left unimaginable tragedy in its wake.

Ola Speedy Gonzales
Some of us will be old enough to remember Speedy Gonzales, the cheeky but heroic Hanna Barbera mouse who graced television screens. No one could emulate his Ai Karambas and Yi Ai, Yi Ai, Andeles as he raced around trying to outwit predator cats.
