The Unbearable Lightness of Being - A Feather?
A poem on the fragility of life
This is for Poppy's prompt #9. Do join in the front here!
We often think of feathers in a pleasant light. Soft and downy, they are indispensable to our pillows and a good night’s sleep.
But they are also temporal. Therefore I explore the Keatsian nature of transience - that everything is temporary.
Feathers represent our fear of aging. We consider the delicate nature of trust when we think of light feathers - sadly, the people closest to us turn on us when circumstances are difficult.
Love, like a feather, can be fleeting. So is happiness. But through it all, the resilience of the delicate feather remains.

Feather in the Wind
Breezing through forgotten Graves
Fading into dust

Softness slowly wanes
Feather crumples over time
Deep creases showing

Feather floats on air
Dances lightly, with pure joy
Steps hauntingly brief

Feather breezes quick
Weightless, fragile, nearly torn
Easily betrayed

Feather drifts to ground
White softness; sheer but present
The form never tears.

That was soooo deep! Loved it so much!
That delicacy and resilience in one, neatly portrayed.
