Summer Solstice At The Standing Stones - A Mikeydred June Dollar Prompt For All Vocal Creators
Share Your Stories And Read Other Submissions

Introduction
Every month, I set prompts in the Vocal Social Society and offer a dollar tip to five random creators who take part in it and ask them to share their stories in the comments and on the thread in the group.
This is not official.
So What's Gonna Happen This Time?
I want you to write me a story or poem, the theme is things that relate to the month of June. Juneteenth, The Summer Solstice, The Stonewall Anniversary and Canadian Indigenous People's day are all dates to think about.
Here are a few June days which may provide inspiration for you:
June 1: Say Something Nice Day
June 3: Chimborazo Day
June 6: National Yo-Yo Day
June 8: Upsy Daisy Day
June 19: Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day). On this day in 1865, Union General Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation aloud in Galveston, Texas, effectively liberating enslaved people in the state, which had thus far been beyond control of the Union Army.
June 20: Summer Solstice, which heralds the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.
June 21: National Indigenous Peoples Day (Canada), recognizing the contributions of the many First Nations, MƩtis, and Inuit peoples.
June 21: Go Skateboarding Day
June 24: Midsummer Day, also St. John the Baptistās Feast Day.
June 26: Islamic New Year, which begins with the first sighting of the crescent Moon after the new Moon in the month of Muharram. This event signals the start of the Islamic lunar calendar year.
June 28: Anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riotsāa watershed moment for LGBT rights in the United States.
June 30: Asteroid Day
I will write and include an example story, but that won't be classed as an entry.
I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with, and I know you are all incredibly creative Vocal talents, so get your pens, paper and keyboards out.
The music is "Celebrate Good Times" by Kool and the Gang because it is good to enjoy good times.
So SHARE YOUR WORK in the comments here, and/or also on the thread in the Vocal Social Society if you are on Facebook.
Please drop your entry in the comments, otherwise, I won't see yours when I choose the random winners.
Also, please link and mention this piece in your entry. Thanks for that.
On Tuesday, 1st July 2025. I will award a dollar tip to five random Vocal Creators who have shared their work here.
Here is the last prompt/challenge with the results and the five randomly chosen stories:

Thanks for continuing with this, Mike.
Good choice for the music. So uplifting! And love the illustration featuring Stonehenge. š
National yo-yo day? š I need to know why. I canāt believe half a year is gone.
This is a cool idea. June has so many diverse events. I'm curious what kind of stories and poems people will come up with. It'll be interesting to see how they interpret these dates. I'm gonna keep an eye out for submissions. What do you think will be the most popular theme among the entries?
Great Ideas, Mike! What do you think of the one I just posted. "The Month of June".
