Summer Solstice; Prepare for it
A Mikeydred June dollar prompt poem

Prepare for it
Not a day-long event
Time specific
Time sensitive
๐ Summer Solstice
๐ Prepare for it
*
Feel it in a shifting wind
Left to right
Zephyr turned tempest
Zion to a lion's roar
May peace always be yours
But don't forget your vocals
*
See it in bird flocks
A scattered WHOOSH
Changing direction- counterclockwise
Unwind, wind, rewind
Do remind yourself to be mindful
๐ Summer Solstice
๐ Prepare for it
*
Hear it in wind chimes
Bamboo, copper, glass, seashells
Varying measures playing in unison
A chorus orchestrated by angels
Tells you, in your life-
Always be instrumental
*
Smell it in seasonal sensations
A freshly mown lawn
Gardenia, Jasmine & Lillies
Earth, creamy, velvety & spicy
Inhale, exhale, rest
Repeat, repeat, repeat
Olfactory perception perfected
Heralds new fragrances
๐ Summer Solstice
๐Prepare for it
*
Taste it in nostalgia
Dreams of the night
Continued in daydreams
Sweetest recollections
Fondest memories
Good enough to eat
No need to count calories
Please, take another bite
*
Touch it, not with your hands
Touch it with your heart
Knowing the unknowing
Feeling the before
Before it comes
Trust tactual minus factual
This transcends intellectual
๐ Summer Solstice
๐ Prepare for it
*
10:42 PM- Northern Hemisphere
June 20, 2025
She arrives
Most tilted towards the sun
Global north, land hemisphere
Time specific
Time sensitive
Longest day, shortest night
Preceded by messages
Gifts on earthly plane
Spiritual upliftment
Opened eyes & ears
Opened hearts & minds
Sensing beyond
Prepared to meet Summer
Equals meeting new beginnings

Love the repetition of the advice to be prepared, really gave an anticipatory feeling to the solstice arrival! Beautiful work, Marilyn!
What a perfect way to describe this day, and now the days will get shorter and shorter till December 20 and the shortest day of the year. Good job.
"Trust tactual minus factual", this was my favourite lines. Your poem was so magically beautiful and I loved it!
Wonderful words and I loved I you wove the emoticons into your poem
