To me this is like Independence Day for people of color, and I do not mean to be racist. If I was around during the Civil War, I believe I would have been an abolitionist. Slavery was a bad idea, and no body should be enslaved to do others work no matter what kind of work. I know there were some White plantation owners (masters) that were good to their slaves, and they should be remembered even though slavery was an idea that they thought was right and yet wrong. Here is an acrostic that I think kind of explains 'Juneteenth'.
Judiciously thought out for many reasons to bring
understanding to the idea that slavery was wrong, but
noteworthy for the past
events that an ethnic group had to endure and for some may still endure.
Those events that happened to others a long time ago do
elicit various kinds of thoughts and feelings for that is why we must also
elaborate and yes even educate others on these thoughts and feelings
notwithstanding all the misunderstandings that are out there for
those who did not believe that slavery was wrong, and we must learn what
happened then will not happen again in any way.
'Juneteenth' is an Independence Day for some now and long ago have received their freedom no matter what generation one belongs.

Excellent pertinent acrostic
Brilliant tribute Mark ♦️♦️♦️
I am sure many white were good. But even a good becomes bad in wrong company. Once must consult with conscience and know right from wrong. A timely tribute.
