We'll start the thread:
In Stephanie Hoogstad's Canoeing, the natural world acts as a soothing contrast to an underlying tension. The haiku-like structure gives each stanza a sense of completeness while advancing the narrative. We are suckers for anything nostalgic and this certainly fits the bill.
Now it's your turn. Share your favorite stories in the comments below.

Just read this amazing acrostic from J and I thought it's worth sharing: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/bang-you-re-dead%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
You Nailed it, good job 👍
I'm a bit late to the party - but cheers, all! This is a piece by someone very dear to me, who has written a few brilliant pieces on this site (and been so kind as to be a sounding board for MANY of my ideas). I think she has a masterful narrative and poetic voice, and love her submission to the Silence Acrostic Challenge: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/enough-51so06du%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Good morning ❤️ So sorry I missed this in real-time, but here's an impactful piece by Cindy Calder about the recent tragic events: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/tears-thus-ensnared%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Éclaircissement! "I believe this story by Dharrsheena Raja Segarran is one of the best stories I have ever read. I recommend that you read it too. https://shopping-feedback.today/horror/eclaircissement%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Hi I'm sure you all know or know of me around these parts and I thought it's about time I raised my voice. So without further ado I would heartily reccomend you take a look at Kirsten the Kiwi: https://shopping-feedback.today/authors/kirsten-the-kiwi%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Hi I want to celebrate this new writer. They combined the three things I like. Art,writing, and a love story. https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/brush-strokes-of-love-a-chance-encounter%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

I have read some amazing pieces this week, many of which will stick with me for a long time. There is such immense talent here. One piece I highly recommend is this journey by John Cox, inspired by Dante's Inferno: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/canto-del-morto%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">

Two amazing poems I read these days: The first one is a haiku from Colleen Walters: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/the-ocean-draws%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E The second one is a love poem from Murali: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/my-crush-5wz20xhc%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Hi 👋🏽 I’m Joe, a teacher from New Zealand, currently working (slooowly) on my first novel- James The Wonderer. Here are three to take a look at: 1. To Write by Kendall Defoe https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/to-write-1e1i06r7%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E Sparse in words (for the Silence acrostic) but thought-provoking regarding how we use what we say. 2. Watercolor by Mackenzie Davis https://shopping-feedback.today/fiction/watercolor-xh1i02qp%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E This one is for the Overboard challenge, but also touches on growing old, and the setting is very visual. 3. Forest Invitations by Andrea Corwin https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/forest-invitations%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E This one is also a Silence acrostic, but set in the woods, and is full of nature, which I found very calming.
Hello all. I pen poetry, fiction, book reviews, and writing advice here on Vocal. I came across this amazing poem by Dharrsheena Raja Segarran this morning and feel that it deserves even more recognition. I enjoyed that she focused on silent treatment and thought the title was unique and creative. The rhyme scheme was also just incredible. Here it is: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/obmutescence%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E.%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Oneg wrote tis in an open and vulnerable cry, as only a teacher could do. I applaud them for sharing. https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/today-a-kid-died%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
Lovely poetic of bonding with nature and another. The visuals created herein are amazing.
Meredith's captivating story about time with her children is simply the timeline cleanser that I needed. maybe you, too?https://shopping-feedback.today/psyche/pez-ure-hunt%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
I am awed by the vulnerable audacity (audacious transparency?) of Sam "the Wanderer" Eliza Green's unveiling of planned releases for September. This is more than a catalogue of what we can expect to be quite fine pieces; it is a travel journal through an author's dreams and daring. https://shopping-feedback.today/writers/introducing-my-september-catalog%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
I follow Rick Martinez. His writing on writing is on point. Each bit is usable and comes from his real world expertise. This is one of his latest. https://shopping-feedback.today/writers/forget-counting-likes-measure-your-true-growth%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
It's Suicide Prevention/Awareness month and this candid, important piece and Patrick's other open book writings on depression are incredible examples of self exploration https://shopping-feedback.today/psyche/depression-diagnoses-are-skyrocketing-with-no-end-in-sight%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cdiv class="css-w4qknv-Replies">
