Today A Kid Died.
You're in our hearts G.K.
Today a kid died.
An unlucky out-of-the-blue accident.
He was seven.
He was out doing what he loved with the people who loved him.
Today was his last day.
A life ended before it even started.
Lifetime memories cut short.
A height never quite reached yet.
Today a mother had to tell her son that his friend can't play with him anymore.
That he's gone.
Today a mother has to somehow comprehend (but never truly) how she has outlived her youngest.
Today a young teacher loses her first student.
Today a cousin loses his hunting buddy.
Today a community has lost a seed of the future, a kid biking through town, a laugh ringing out across the land.
Today we lost that cheeky pumpkin smile. The cool dyed green hair. The goofiness of a boy who now never gets to grow older.
(And my heart weeps heavily)
