Antelucan
Antelucan - the time before dawn and daylight My Connection - Many people will already know this, but I have trouble sleeping and often I am awake when it's still dark and see the sunrise and dawn. I had not heard of this word before researching for this challenge, but love that there is a word for this period of time that so often is a big part of my day. Often my wife, Ruth, who doesn't sleep well either, will be up then. While we may not have the deepest of conversations or do anything significant and I would much rather we slept well, I appreciate those hours together when it's just us before our boys are awake and before the day starts. Everything is so quiet in those times before the dawn - peaceful and beautiful.

Too Late For White Flags
The last glimmer of light diminished in the sky above, on the eve of war. Thom and Gwen looked at each other for the last time, free from the blood, death and misery. The screech of devastating machines of their creation eviscerated the land ahead.

Doubts at the Deadline. Top Story - September 2024.
The Day of the Deadline Today was the last day to put forward my efforts. To say I was lacking in confidence was an understatement. It would be more realistic to say I was as close to just missing the deadline completely and being done with it all. To put it plainly, I was completely and utterly petrified. This wasn't even my first rodeo, so to speak, but my nerves never seemed to get any easier to manage. Still, though I wanted to put my work forward. Glutton for punishment, maybe? Even if I didn't win anything, which, of course, would be nice I sure I still had something of worth to share. However, I am left sitting here, as I have done so often in the past as the clock ticks towards the deadline, wondering if I actually really genuinely believe that or if I am just kidding myself that I am any good.

A Wee Toilet Tale
There has long been held an urban myth in Scotland, that according to law, if someone asks a homeowner for use of their toilet, they are legally obliged to let them. According to the Law Commission, though, there is nothing of the sort. The thought is it was borne of Scottish people taking pride in being hospitable. I am including this point in the preamble to the tale below to give some context.

My Villainous Hero
The voice, James Earl Jones oh my villainous hero, the force be with you * Thanks for reading! R.I.P. James Earl Jones who died September 9, 2024, at 93 years old. That voice was such an iconic part of my childhood, as it was for many others, as Darth Vader in the Star Wars films and universe, and then as Musafa in The Lion King.
