Hope in Tatters is Still Hope

For the unfiltered challenge. Inspirational, contemplative and motivational bit of poetry.

I know it's tough and the seas are rough, even on dry land,

and you need a helping hand

I know it feels like no one understands, no one knows what you're going through,

and it's tough

The cage that generates your internal rage, won't let you sleep,

and so you reap

just what you continue to sow, even though, you h/ope

for something...better

Hold on,

just

hold

on

grasp with your weak hands on to the fractured remains of your sanity, your life, your social circles,

whatever has been tarnished, because, even if you only have a little, that's a lot.

Even if your life is all you have got, right now, at this moment, that's enough for today. Better days may seem like a distant future or lost h/ope, but trust me. You will see light, flashing bright and beautiful and will feel a modicum of better.

They won't come right away.

I am not going to lie to you.

I'm not going to ice the cake so you question if it's a cake or not, life will still bite back, this is just to stop you from making a terrible decision or to stop you from consoling yourself in your own enforced isolation.

But

and this is a big old but

It's a good but, like one on that person you fancy.

It's a but that comes with a hefty dose of h/ope and in time can help you cope.

I want you to search yourself...

really search deep inside and look for something...a glimmer of something. Dig deep and don't stop til you find the remnants of something special.

If you're a master pianist(other instruments are available), then that's amazing, but even if you are not and all you got to show for yourself is a good heart, kindness, crafting skills, a keen interest in the subtle art of misdirection or caricatures or maybe you just like puns. dig and find those treasures, and then focus on those for a while.

The bad stuff won't go away. I'm sorry, but focus on the good rather than the bad. No matter how trivial it is.

You are not trivial and neither is your ability to touch your toes or make the best chicken and bacon sandwich. Whatever it is, hold onto it.

Cultivate it even. Pour all that energy you pour into feeling the lowest of the low into that special thing.

Can you paint? Paint your pain

Can you sing? Sing your woes

Can you write poetry to some level of competency? Write your plight

Can you make elaborate hand puppets and throw your voice like the best ventriloquist? Perhaps create an intricate puppet show, with many different characters embodying the best and worst sides of your cauterised psyche and then upload it and bring your darkness into the light.

You may find your audience, may make people laugh, inspire them.

Even if you don't. Even if it doesn't work out and you are left sitting there in a room full of strange puppets and a Twitch and Patreon account...

Better to be a failed online ventriloquist puppeteer show creator than a failed nothing.

At the very least.

At the very least, you'd have something to share with friends, relatives, colleagues, therapists or even the checkout operator when you buy your groceries.

Remember, h/ope in tatters is still hope.

We all got to have hope in this world for if we don't what do we have. Good work.
