Review of 'Superman'
I've been following and enjoying Superman's exploits since I started watching him played by George Reeves on television when I was a kid in the 1950s, and started reading the comic book a few years later, created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster way back in 1938. And as an adult I even contributed an article about The Man of Steel -- “Superman, Patriotism, and Doing the Ultimate Good” (which explored why Superman didn't just wipe out Hitler and the Nazis in World War Two) in The Man from Krypton -- an anthology published in 2006.

Song in a Room Without Light
I wasn’t okay, but I got good at performing the illusion, which made me an ideal freshman and unfit to survive. I escaped a small town by playing dead. I earned high grades, played a good kid, kept my voice tucked low. When I reached the university, no one looked twice. I dissolved into lecture halls and tried to stay visible enough not to vanish, quiet enough not to be pulled apart.

Magic Reborn
The air whipped around them chilled by the early start of winter, and the dazzling lights of the skyline gave way to the rolling curves of the milky-way. Hecate cruised through the air lazily, half-tempted to jettison the scrappy little upstarts gliding beside her. But, her curiosity had been property piqued by this itchy-witchy little girl who had dared to seek her out in this modern age.

Hag Torches
"DON'T CUT DOWN THE MULLEIN! SAVE IT FOR HAG TORCHES!" Well. You didn't have to drop a house on me to get my attention; all caps, plants, directive, and the specter of villagers carrying burning brands aloft was plenty enough for me. With that I made a cup of coffee and settled in to a local community Facebook group with over 300 comments to see just what wisdom I could glean from neighbors I'd never met.

A Choice
The Choice D. A. Ratliff What do you write on a blank page? Let’s face it, words mean something. Isolated words provide little meaning. They must intertwine to impart thoughts, hopes, wisdom, and sometimes convey emotions, ranging from the darkest pain to the highest joy.

I Cut My Finger With a ‘Chainsaw’
It was about noon on Saturday. I had already finished trimming the bushes in the front yard using the electric hedge trimmer that my daughter affectionately refers to as ‘the chainsaw.’ She was furious that I could do such a thing without her and refused to let it go. As if I could turn back time so she could have a crack at it.

The Farm
It had been a long day of moving for Emily. Emily threw the last box full of kitchen ware on top of the counter to put away. Knives, forks, plates, and spoons soon found their new home. The weather turned just as Emily sat in her chair next to the fireplace. This farm was once owned by her grandparents. Her grandfather built the house with his own hands. Emily’s grandmother died first. Her grandfather followed a week later. After they died the bank bought the house and all the property attached to it. Over the years the property was sold off in chunks. Emily was fortunate enough to buy the last piece.

Book Review: "On the Calculation of Volume: 1" by Solvej Balle
I have been seeing this book everywhere and charging what Kindle was charging for it, it felt like I would never actually get to read the thing. Of course, until one day where the price came shooting down and 'Best Price in 30 Days' read '£0.99' and I was very quick to buy. With the language being a mix of minimalism and philosophy, the themes being that of entropy and realisation, this book definitely deserves all the hype it has been getting. If I am lucky I might be able to read the second part. I just have to hope that it is still on sale.
