Self-Editing Epiphany
Like any challenge I first read the description of what the challenge is about and what the judges are asking from us as creative writers. So in this challenge "Self-Editing Epiphany they ask us to share an excerpt that I would consider both imperfect and brimming with potential! Immediately I thought of the story I shared in the "Unreliable" Challenge. This challenge asked us to write a story from the perspective of an unreliable narrator.

The Madness
I nestled deeper into the bed, pleading for sleep to overcome me. It was the same thing every single night. Nothing ever changed. I wrapped my comforter tighter around me willing the plush softness to lull me into a false sense of security. But slumber, as always, eluded me.

🍕The pizza delivery mystery👀
"There is someone at the front door". Alexa announced in her proper, preppy English voice. Now Dad had just installed a doorbell camera/Alexa informing/bell identification system so one could know when someone comes to the door as no one can hear said bell from way upstairs; thing-a-ma-jig. I don't know much about such things as you can clearly fathom here.

Free Art Lessons
Paul was staring at the Monet’ when something moved, barely encroaching his peripheral vision. The object was on his right side, so he had to verify that something was actually there. He always had to check the right side because he had a “floater”, a tiny scar on his retina that, in certain lighting conditions, created the illusion that he had company. He liked to josh that he got the scar fighting for a maiden's honor, but it really was a tussle with a weed eater that left him with this annoying little blind spot. He knew other blinding forces too, like the dazzling brightness of a beautiful woman. He turned his head to see this manifested in that moment, and through the glow he could discern that she was young, but not too young, and his first glance at her countenance incited him to take a closer look.

An Ocean of Bright Stars
Staring up at the behemoth of a ship, Andrew Winters felt small and insignificant. He tugged at the stiff starchy collar of his freshly pressed suit. Sweat beaded on his forehead despite the cold spring air blowing in from the port. His nerves seemed to run rampant before embarking on such long journeys, especially across the Atlantic. The vast unknown of the North Atlantic Ocean both intrigued and worried Andrew. The ocean had an ominous beauty he couldn't quite understand.

When I see you in my dreams
When I saw him the second time, it was quiet, save for the regulars’ idle chat, in hushed whispers, excitement lacing their words, bouncing in jittery waves. Whether it was from their conversation or the anticipated performance, I didn’t know. The small stage in front was still and dark.
