happiness
Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
Fresh Start:
From COVID-19, climate disruptions, the killing of George Floyd, the bad blood between countries, to a declining economy, riots and protest, unethical acts from our leaders, to an impeachment trial within our own democracy and a new president. 2020 was thus far the most chaotic year I’ve lived in my entire life. Not only has it changed lives by bringing relationships closer, while others failed to embody love and unity during quarantine, it also caused many of us to take a long hard look at the reality of our situations. To some it brought joy and happiness, to others it brought challenges and struggles. Whether rich or poor, from different nationalities to blended cultures, every living soul felt some type of the 2020 effect in their lives.

Marry The Night
I am going to marry the night. I am warrior and queen I wont give up on my life, live passionately tonight. You may say I lost everything but I still had my golden soul and heart of diamond. I did what every girl/boy would do I did it all over again.

I am manifest's destiny: starting new- not over
I’ve always associated New Years with the dreaded task of “Resolutions” to be the standard concept of simply "getting in shape". Somehow the physical change, be it weight loss or weight gain seemed to be the only mark of “growth” for our society because its tangible evidence of something, proof of one's "efforts" and "dedication".

Mirror, Mirror
Have you ever looked into a mirror but not really seen who is staring back at you.? Before Covid-19 took over the world, I remember waking up at 7:08 am every day, taking exactly 52 minutes, to get check my phone for weather and news updates, put on the clothes I picked out the night before, pack my lunch, and do a mental once over in the mirror infront of my door, in order to walk out of the apartment before 8:00 am to walk the 20 minutes to my office, with 10 minutes to spare to put my lunch in the break room, make my tea and have precisely 5 minutes of office shop talk before logging on to the rest of my scheduled day.

The Great Transition
2021: A new year like no other new year we have ever had. We are in the midst of The Great Shift. The Great Transition. The Age of Aquarius. The Era of Strife, Trials and Tribulations, the end of days. Call it what you will, but it is a time of accelerated change, and there is a sense of extreme overwhelm, even hopelessness, and definitely a myriad of emotions. A mysterious virus has shaken the world, and international relationships are shifting. For many of us, our own perspectives and relationships with ourselves and others are also shifting--I know mine are. It took chaos around me to force me to find my inner peace. How did I go so long without it? In this space, I am going to share how I resolve to transform, because sharing new years resolutions is boring, and so last year--I mean era--I mean, world. So, what does embracing a new year in a new world look like?

Why New Years Resolutions are Garbage
Let's be real: for the vast majority of us, New Year's Resolutions are garbage. This is for a plethora of reasons, the foremost being that for most people, they simply don't work. According to a recent study, the most comprehensive ever done on the New Year's Resolution phenomenon, only about 19% of those who undertake a resolution will complete it according to their satisfaction. For everyone else, it's a one way guilt-trip into Blue Monday, statistically the saddest day of the year partly because of the guilt of our failed resolutions for the future.

To be Happy
“Happy” was just a word for me for a long time. It wasn't until I met someone in 2020 that showed me and constantly reminded me over casual dinners and great conversation that there is no reason to stress. I didn’t get it at first. It stressed me out thinking that he could say there is no reason to stress without considering all the factors of life! What about bills? Employment? Family? Debt? The list goes on! I was constantly thinking about all my worries and concerns in the back of my mind. I realized that time with a new friend or dinner with a handsome someone are bits of happiness. I was able to shut my mind off. Ignore the bad stressful thoughts even, I admit. I didn't allow myself to think of anything that might have caused me to make my forehead tense up and wrinkle a little. I just had to breathe and enjoy the now! The NOW was wonderful! I love to travel and was in a new place and had met many great people. It all seemed perfect.

Be Like Water
The clock strikes midnight at the end of the year, a time of celebratory cheer when people are enthusiastic to welcome in the new. Many will make a list of resolutions, fueled by this sense of optimism, intending to create positive change in their lives. The aspirations are beautiful, however, rarely do these ideas lead to any lasting improvement. In fact, the majority of people set themselves up for experiencing failure in the very first month of the year.

Love a little loneliness
I used to be that girl, the girl who was the life of the party, the girl who was loud and wild, who always had plans and made friends wherever she went. I enjoyed having something to do and having some company with me. I wasn't the type to be found eating at restaurants by myself or trying something new alone. I thought to be a successful adult, I always needed to be busy and push myself even though I might be exhausted.

My NYR is to spend more time naked
I had never seen a naked 92-year-old before, but that is how I met Joe. Joe was the first guy I saw wandering around Sydney's busiest nudist beach. It was a rather odd moment. Joe was casually filling his water bottle up at a fountain right in front of me and I was trying to hide behind a Magazine Wolverine on the front cover. He took one look at me and burst out laughing.
