Happiness, defined; things that help you find happiness, keep it, and share it with others.
Gross Domestic Product vs. Gross National Happiness
Most of us know what Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is having learned it at some point in high school or in college. The total value of all finished goods, products, and services produced within a country’s borders over a specific time period such as a quarter (three months) or a year. Economists commonly use GDP as a model for economic health when it comes to an individual country. If GDP grows positively or increases over time, then generally you could assume that the economy is doing well or is at least maintaining its equilibrium. However, when the GDP of a country is declining or has been stagnant for multiple years, economists are likely to assume there is a problem of some sort.

Seize the opportunity
So, this is being uploaded in the week that end with Valentine Day, and in the UK Valentines is about our significant other or someone we would like to be. But to have that special person in your life one of you would have had to have seized an opportunity, make a move on the other for it all to start.

The Mango Tree
When you plant a mango seedling, you may expect your first harvest of fruits in three to six years – provided, of course, that weather conditions are suitable for the tree. Between the time of planting and harvesting and nurturing the seedling into maturity, you can take pleasure in watching the growth progression of your mango tree. On its sixth year, you can rest and relax under the shade of its spreading canopy, and savor the sweetness of your first harvest.

Happiness is doing what makes your heart sing
Let’s begin with this… Life isn’t meant to be about fear or pain or suffering. Life is meant to be about love, joy, and happiness. Yet so many of us are sitting in a space in which we are creating more pain and suffering for ourselves. We are making ourselves sad and sick. We are turning our backs on those things that used to bring us so much joy and happiness.

No GPS Required in 2021
With the advent of 2021 and the influential effects of 2020 still lingering, the interpretation and experience of my expectations have been altered . . . and probably a little bit damaged. The needle on my perfect-o-meter has been bouncing all over the place and unsettling my universe. I have been forced to stop. And listen. And recalibrate my position in this lively event called life.

Happy, Happier, Happiest
Happiness. One very powerful word. Just saying it evokes an emotion – though it might not be happy. In 2006, Will Smith (read: a great actor) starred in the movie, “The Pursuit of Happyness.” It is based on a true story about a homeless salesman – Chris Gardner, his 5-year old son and how through a series of bad circumstances still manages the pursuit. It’s worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. The point is we’re all in pursuit of happiness, though it is more evasive for some. The bigger point is that only we as individuals can make ourselves happy. Sometimes, while we’re pursuing – we lose sight that happiness isn’t a destination – it’s the path we pave.

Book of Dreams
I wish to have $20,000 in one day. That simple sentence was the only thing I can think of to write. The tiny, black book that I found on my doorstep on no particular day had driven my curiosity to this stage. No matter how bizarre my circumstances are, this is the only way to prove if it's real or not.

Morning Coffee
Morning coffee.. hmm.. this moment right here, right now is delightful. The wonderful aroma of coffee fills your home, the morning sun streaming softly through the window, and silence, as you watch the birds in the tree outside. And sound is absorbed by the first snow of the season. Your tastebuds flourished with the exquisite taste of your warm caffeinated beverage that you have cupped between your palms. The window is cold, so you pull a soft, cozy blanket over your lap. Just gazing out the window, early morning, watching a car or two and even a snow plow go by and geese in the sky heading south. One sip after another, and you hear padded feet excitedly trotting towards you and a wet nose greeting you. “Looks like someone finally woke up, Good morning sweet girl!” You say softly. Resting your hand on her head, she rests her head on your lap and joins you. Watching the world beyond the window.

The Wind in Our Dreams
“I don’t believe in coincidence, nor do I believe in chance. However, I do believe in hope, I do believe in faith, and I do believe in miracles. The human spirit is one of the strongest forces that I’ve come to know. When we make up our minds to do something or to have something, and we pursue our dreams with conviction- we find that despite all odds, NOTHING can get in our way. To the person reading this journal, you did not come into its possession by chance, nor did I leave it behind on accident. Just like everyone else, you deserve a shot at your dreams. They are what give us life and purpose, after all…” -Anonymous

Fresh Start
Every year we commit to change or improve but in the end we do nothing. We stay the same. So the question is, why are we making those resolutions anyway? At first, I had no resolutions what so ever. Then I changed my mind, I committed to one thing only, to be the best version of myself. I know, it isn't very specific. Although, it gives me opportunity to develop more changes as I go through life. Think of it as a flexible plan which will help you to adapt to any unexpected situation.

Wasting Time
Our family are precious, our job is precious, our income is precious, our house is precious, our friends are precious, our health is precious, our possessions are precious, but apart from being granted with the blessing of life itself, the most precious blessing we have in life, is time. Time provides us with fond memories of our past, but it also provides us the opportunity to make more memories in the future. The value of time is worth more than any amount of money in the world, as without time, money would be worthless. The problem is, most people overlook the importance and value of time, instead focusing on other less important factors of life, such as money, their job, and Netflix. We can always obtain more money, we will always have plenty more opportunities to find another job or a different line of work, and we will always have ample television and movies to watch, but what we don't have the opportunity to get more of, is time. In fact, as each second, each minute, and each hour, ticks by, we bid farewell to another moment of time, that we cannot get back. On reflection, one of the biggest regrets I have, is not valuing the time I had in the past. I think of all the opportunities I missed, that I could have spent more time with my parents, whilst they were actually still alive. I think of all those wonderful moments of fun, laughter, and enjoyment, with my friends, where I was too caught up with living in the moment, rather than truly appreciating such moments of time. I think about all the time I flittered away on non-productive activities, where I could have been better designing my future. Time wasted!

The Payoff of Positivity and Living Your Best Life
I didn’t believe it. Although it was right in front of me, my mind didn’t want to accept that my writing could earn me more than praise from friends and family. The Universe is smiling on you, I thought. It was the best answer. I still had doubts about pursuing a career in writing at my age. I had been submitting things here and there, but nothing seemed to get many reads or returns. Of course, I was still working on a novel. I had hoped I could make some income writing for websites while I worked on it. Now it looked as though that idea was going to pay off. Not only would it pay off, but it was going to be enough to give me a few more months avoiding a return to corporate life.
