A Difficult Week Writing On Vocal

On Holiday In Hebden Bridge

By Mike Singleton πŸ’œ Mikeydred Published 2 months ago β€’ 1 min read
Hebden Bridge

Introduction

This is a sort of apology for not commenting on many Vocal stories this week, and also not being able to be as supportive as I normally am on Vocal.

The music is 'The Light at the End of the Tunnel (Is the Light of an Oncoming Train)' taken from Half Man Half Biscuit's 2002 album "Cammell Laird Social Club", which mentions Sylvia Plath, who is buried in Heptonstall just above Hebden Bridge. This is my Instagram post:

So The Problems

The main thing has been the unreliability of the broadband and the fact that the vocal editor keeps autosaving stories every thirty seconds.

When I try to see stories and comment, it tells me I am logged out and then takes an age to log in, then tells me I am logged in, before not saving my comments.

I think this is a combination of the computer, broadband and the fact I don't have a desk to work at.

Conclusion

I will be back to normal on Saturday, so please accept my apology.

Glad to see you are still publishing something at least, there's really no need to apologise. I kind of wondered where you had gone for a few days before I read the message on the FB group chat. I was going to ask if you were alright or had some burnout from writing or something. But, it's glad to see it was only a broadband issue (as we all have now and again). Looking forward to reading more of your stuff (and hope you've had a few days rest!)

No need for an apology. Everyone needs a holiday at least once in a while, and sometimes that means disconnecting from the internet. Have fun!

Enjoy your holiday Mike! Hebden Bridge looks beautiful and you are definitely entitled to a break from Vocal now and then. Look forward to more wonderful stories when you return!

You are a legendarily supportive and generous Vocalite, Mikeydred; a brief lapse simply throws your heroic consistency into sharp relief!

  • No worries Mike, things happen.
