Shattered
The reflection was like when light breaks water; the shattered fragments were from the glass table destroyed by a vandal's hammer blow, strewn all over the floor, with sharp shards that would cut anyone who tried to pick them up and clear away the debris.

Destroyed
Introduction The inside shows a misted cityscape of ancient and modern architecture by Leee Black Childers. Destroyed This was once a thriving city, but now there is no life here, no birds sing, no flowers grow, and every tree is dead. At various council meetings, the money from taxes was always "invested", never spent on the infrastructure of the city, and the same was true all over the nation.

Cat Nights Are Coming
Introduction Cat Nights begin on August 17. This term harks back to the days when people believed in witches. A rather obscure old Irish legend said that a witch could turn herself into a cat eight times, but on the ninth time (August 17), she couldn’t regain her human form. This bit of folklore also gives us the saying, “A cat has nine lives.” Because August is a yowly time for cats, this may have prompted the speculation about witches on the prowl in the first place. Also, nights continue to get longer. Cats, crepuscular creatures, are nocturnal hunters. Their superior night vision means that the nights belong to them.

A Nine Minute Drabble
It's nine minutes to midnight here in Newcastle-upon-tyne and I wondered if I could write and publish a drabble for no reason other than I am at a loose end and I want to go to bed, but after the colock strikes the midnight hour, except it doesn't because all the clocks are electronic, digital and have not hourly chimes, not even my OWL clock.

He didn't know how it happened or when it started, but he had been in many places where he cast multiple shadows, and didn't think anything of it, but now, everywhere he went, he cast five shadows. He didn't know why, and nothing seemed to be amiss, but each day it preyed a little more on his mind.

The Wire Spider
He was an arachnophobe and an artist, so the wire spider was a difficult commission to complete, but he did it, and now it dominated his studio. He tried not to look at it, but it was just a metal creation, but it was a spider. He started to feel it was watching him, waiting to bite him and pierce his skin with its metal leg spikes.
