Memories Remain. Top Story - December 2024.
As the winter sun started to set, darkness settled in; the little ones were sent to bed, then the fun began. The gifts were carried out of their secret spots; your smile brightened the room as you prepared Santa's scene to surprise the tots.

To My Sunshine. Top Story - November 2024. Content Warning.
I was not prepared when I found out that I was going to be your mother. I was 18 years old, barely out of high school and no were near an adult in my mind. As you grew inside of my womb, I was overwhelmed with fear and anxiety, but also with love for you. Your birth was not easy on me, because you were too afraid to come out into the world. 48 hours of labor and a c-section later, you were here and my life was never the same again.

Suppressed. Content Warning.
It didn't happen overnight. It was a process of subtle manipulation that quickly became compliance controlled by fear. Voices became silent and allowed unspeakable acts to continue. The manipulators scream loudly making claims of great moral "evils" to induce greater anxiety and panic. Beliefs become safe only for those who comply with what fits the narrative of those in control. The screams became louder, emphasizing the differences in cultures and races. Forcing compliance with stories of atrocities that are untrue. Yet, it didn't happen overnight.

The Other Side
There was only one rule: don’t open the door. She stared at the foreboding, rusted metal slab towering in front of her. Curiosity continued to gnaw. Unanswered questions lingering as she tried to suppress them. Her Aunt told her never to go near it, but she never said why. It was not to a room.

Dark Warnings
There was only one rule: don't open the door. That was like waving a bright, flashing sign in front of me saying "Open me." The temptation was unbearable as I continued to explore my great-grandmother's home. This was the first time I'd ever been to visit the family home in my life. It wasn't until my mother passed away that I went there to share the news with the family she had left. I didn't realize it was only one sister that remained.

Signing Away Our Rights
Terms of Service agreements are all over the place these days, people are asked to agree to them before any service sign-up can be completed. These standard agreements were previously intended to protect companies providing the service(s) against frivolous lawsuits and protection from liability. Generally, the terms of service agreements that people were required to sign laid out the restrictions regarding a service or product and its intended use. Terms of service agreements have always been very long and wordy with a lot of complex language and phrasing that can confuse those who are not attorneys or familiar with legalese. Most people are accustomed to signing these agreements without fully reading them and most never had any issue later.

When Errors Become Required
I remember the strong emphasis my instructors placed on using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation while attending school. My English and Creative Writing instructors were very focused on instilling the importance of this as one of the biggest parts of being a successful writer. I was taught that success as a writer hinged upon ensuring there were no errors in your writing because even if you wrote a great masterpiece, it would suffer due to errors in grammar, spelling, or punctuation. What my instructors could not prepare for is the unfortunate and difficult reality facing writers today - AI.
