Writing Down The Bones Deck #20

Inspired by Denise E Lindquist

Hi guys,

I have been trying to write more now that the kids are back into school. I love these cards and I am so thankful for Denise for showing us all these beautiful writing prompt cards.

Full disclosure: I have not read Natalie Goldberg's book titled by the same name YET although I do now own it. I'm excited to read it but, again, I have been putting things on the "TO DO LIST" shelf lately..... whoops.

Let's just get right into things. Without further ado, enjoy my attempt at easing my writer's block with prompt twenty.

20) Tell me about a place you need to return to.

Interestingly enough, the place I feel like I need to return to is The Great Sea in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. That whole game was my childhood and still happens to be my all-time favourite game. I just don't have a working copy of the game anymore.

The child-like ambiance of the game was highly criticized by many people, but for me, it's quite comforting. I even throw the soundtrack on when I write. I find it peaceful. Outset Island even shows up in my dreams sometimes- that is how much I love these games.

I think I was five-years old the first time I tried playing this particular Zelda game on the good old GameCube. I continuously got stuck in Forsaken Fortress but I'll never forget how proud I was of myself when I finally made it to Windfall Island.

The game feels like coming home after a long day to me. I even throw on "Let's Plays" of the game when I'm really missing it. I included a video clip of my favourite music in the whole game. Medli is my favourite character in the franchise. My Auntie, who has now since passed, made me a Zelda themed quit when I was 16-years old for my birthday. She even included a screen-printed photo of Medli.

Here, I'll include a picture so you can visualize what I'm talking about.

The quilt my Aunt made for me in all it's entirety

If I purchase a Switch 2, I could play the original Wind Waker again. I keep telling myself that I want to buy the kids one for Christmas but mainly it would be for me specifically for this game. Is that weird to spend $700 on a console for one game? Yes, yes it is weird. But I am weird so oh well.

For me, home isn't actually a place and I don't travel much so there is no outstanding place I need to return to by any means. Home for me is Wind Waker, the game I grew up loving.

Thanks for reading this quick piece I wrote during my lunch break today!

1 - LoZ is my all-time favorite gaming franchise, and my girls love it too. 2 - That quilt is PRICELESS!! Just gorgeous also <3 3 - Is it odd that I only pay for Netflix to watch 1 show? Otherwise, I'd cancel my subscription...
