High… in the sky
At the annual Fair
Gracing our small town where
Amid the rustle, hustle and bustle
Dazzling fireworks blaze sporadically
Amusement Park rides spin, fold, reshape… twist
Like whimsical origami creations… neon lights flash colourfully
Sugar treats invite, entice, entreat… clamouring from all sides
Try as we might they cannot be missed!
Irresistible salty scents of mouthwatering potato spirals
Meld with seared tongues and greasy palms
The exhilarating commotion of the crowds
Mutes… hushes… calms
Farewell my fair friend
Until we meet
Again.
