Coming up for Air. Top Story - July 2025.
It can’t be me she’s yelling at. There must be a mistake. Nobody calls me Tor. Not anymore. Not in years. She shouts louder this time, and darts across the street, zigzagging between beeping cars, giggling and waving an apology. She stumbles onto the pavement, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear and holds out her arms. I shuffle backwards and lower my eyes, picking at my thumbnail. It’s strange. But even after all this time, there’s something achingly familiar about seeing your mum again.

Ghost Writer. Top Story - March 2025.
Over my dead body would I stay here again Date of travel: 29 October – 1 November 2024 I’ll cut to the chase – your house isn’t haunted. Yes, it sent shivers down my spine, but I’ll attribute that to the woefully inadequate central heating system rather than any ghostly goings-on. I still can’t believe I let myself be tricked – hoodwinked by your website listing. I’m so furious, I’m spitting literal feathers.

The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Runner-Up in Love Letters Through Time Challenge.
Dear Billy It’s my favorite birthday card. Truly it is. I love it. You did such a good job drawing everyone. And I’m glad you didn’t forget Spitfire. She’d have been so cross! (She’s curled up in my lap, purring and watching me write.) I can’t wait to show your dad. He’ll be pleased as punch to see all those medals on his chest.

Picture This. Top Story - January 2025.
Sometimes I wonder if they’re ever going to leave. It doesn’t feel like it. There’s always at least five or six of them dillydallying in front of the bulletproof glass, cameras in hand, ignoring the announcement that the museum’s closing. 'Just one more photo' they whine, or 'I’m going to remember this moment forever', something annoying like that. I never return their smiles, just jangle my keys and herd them towards the exit.

Free as a Bird. Top Story - November 2024.
Of course she’s learned to fly. I’d have expected nothing less. Not from the woman who’d clasp my face between her hands and say: “Don’t tell me the sky’s the limit when there are footprints on the moon. You’ve got to believe in yourself Cale. I know I do.”

Witch Hunt. Top Story - November 2024.
“Mrs. Catchpole is not a witch.” “But mummy she is…” “… Just because she wears black dresses and has a cat doesn’t mean… Hang on a minute,” she says shaking her head. “I’m not arguing with you Millie. I’m telling you.”
