Four legged love!
Todd, my significant other, and I were living together for about two years when he had a bug in his bonnet for a dog, a pooch, a four-legged friend. My daughter had graduated from college and was out on her own. Todd is divorced with three kids who visit us a few times a month on the weekends. So, at times, the house can get noticeably quiet. I was working long hours and he said it was lonely at home waiting for me. I was working at the hospital full time and then in private practice for an additional ten to fifteen hours a week. There were nights that I would not get home until seven or eight o’clock and he didn’t complain about my working, he just had a burning desire to have a friend to wait with him.

Call him "Lucky" and he will find his path
It was a rainy late winter day, still muddy and cold when something made me look at pages about dog rescue. Due to my allergies I was never able to get a dog and always felt sorry for it. Some might say it was faith, and other’s opinion would be that it was an unfulfilled need, but whatever the reason was, something about that day was different. An image of a dog popped up in my mind and a few minutes later I saw a post from a friend, about a dog in need. No, that post was not about the dog in this story, but was a trigger that made me look into groups and pages on the topic for the next few weeks. I helped some, I sent some donations to others and then I saw “him”!

Precious
In the Spring of 2006, me and my newly-wed wife had just moved to Texas from Virginia after both serving in the U.S. Navy. Everything we owned at the time could fit in a mid-sized car and a Jeep Cherokee Sport. In the military, you learned to travel light. One thing was for sure, we was ready to start our family.

Tiny
Tiny is short for Valentine, the time of year when we welcomed this then kitten into our home. She was recruited to be a pal to our other cat Misty who was lonely following the disappearance of her sister Angel who did not come home one summer day and never returned. We live on the edge of the wilderness in the Yukon and there are many wild creatures in our neighbourhood, some are opportunistic hunters like foxes, lynx, eagles, owls and coyotes who have been known to prey on cats that do not pay close enough attention when they are out hunting rodents and birds.

Some Spiders Have 4 Legs
I don’t remember a whole lot about my birth parents. I just know that the man that adopted me was related to the homeowner of the place where we all lived. He took me home and that’s where I met my mom. Her name is Kat and she and my Dad, Jason, were going to adopt me.

A Ginger Biography
King of the Household Ginger will be celebrating his tenth birthday in human years next month. We’ve had him since he was born and even though our family don’t live together anymore, he is still very much loved. He has been a part of the family since the day he was born and turned my mum from a cat hater to a cat lady. He goes by many nicknames. My mum even calls him her “sexy boy” which makes me stepdad and aunts cringe like there’s no tomorrow. Other nicknames include Ginge, or Ginge-Minge which he responds to well.
