King of the Household
Ginger will be celebrating his tenth birthday in human years next month. We’ve had him since he was born and even though our family don’t live together anymore, he is still very much loved. He has been a part of the family since the day he was born and turned my mum from a cat hater to a cat lady. He goes by many nicknames. My mum even calls him her “sexy boy” which makes me stepdad and aunts cringe like there’s no tomorrow. Other nicknames include Ginge, or Ginge-Minge which he responds to well.

Birth
Ginger was born on the 31st May 2011. He was one of two kittens. His mother was an adopted stray called Iris. His mother ran away the day after I went on holiday. She came back the day I came back from holiday and that was when we found out she was pregnant.

Her disappearance was scary, but also a blessing in disguise. Mum had agreed that went on h His older brother was named Autumn Blossom. Autumn Blossom was already going to a family when he was a little bit older and Ginger was going to stay with us.

His family had a hard time picking a name for him. At first we called him Daisy to keep up with the flower theme, but after we found out he was male, he was simply called Ginger.

Growing up
Ginger was a playful kitten that got on really well with his family. He was fond of his adoptive grandmother, Lily as well as his brother, Autumn Blossom and mother, Iris. When Autumn Blossom went to his family in London, his mother was very sad and Ginger was there to cheer her up.

He lived with my Nan until she passed away and his mother and adoptive grandmother we’re rehomed. Ginger was going to be rehomed too, but as we were allowed one pet in our flat, we kept him.
Hobbies
Ginger enjoys hunting, sleeping, sunbathing, fighting with other cats and posing for the camera. He enjoys his scatching, which prompted his family to cover the furniture with blankets to protect them. He also has two big scratch posts, one for each floor. They had to change the corridor floor upstairs from carpeted to wooden as had scratched it so much.

Favourite Things
Ginger is a fussy eater. This was because the other cats used to push him away when there was milk, dried food and other wet food available. Eventually, there was one thing that he would grow to love: TUNA.

But he is not satisfied with any tuna. It has to be John West, unflavoured and from the brine. If you other him anything else including an alternate brand of tuna, he will just sniff it and walk away.
He is not very keen on a lot of other foods but he will look up to see what you are eating. He’s not keen on milk but likes the odd bit of cheese now and again.
Twitter Fame
Ginger enjoyed a brief stint on Twitter under the name: Gingemingetoppussy. Sadly his account was hacked by a porn bot and the account got suspended. Twitter support made no effort to help him get his account back. By that time he had given up on social media and went back to hunting mice.

What is he’s up to now?
Ginger lives in a spacious three bedroom house with a big garden. He likes to sunbath on the patio and under the bushes. On the whole he is a happy and spoilt cat until it is time to be dewormed or go to the vets. He does not like confined spaces so being in a cage to go to the vets upsets him. One time we had to cancel an appointment because we could not get him into the cage. As of now, he’s probably sleeping in one his many beds.
