The Power Of Mantras
The word “mantra” is derived from an ancient Sanskrit word meaning “to think.” In some cultures, a mantra is a specific type of sound, chant, or word used to center the mind during meditation. But in the western world, it’s come to mean a phrase that captures a specific belief or philosophy.

Take-up arms
Discouragement. It is the thing that will make you feel as useless as the letter U in the word "guitar." Regardless of the word, the letter is still important; U are still important. As you go to and fro you will come across opposition which will deliver heavy blows verbally, physically, emotionally, or conscious/unconsciously that will make it seem like U aren't. Perhaps you are tough enough to take a few hits, after all, we are a strong species. Sooner or later, however, there will come a time where a cry for help will be greatly needed; there is nothing wrong with accepting assistance here and there.

Think of life as a romp
I once saw a kind of interpretation of life: life, that is, life is born, to live wonderfully. This interpretation of the spirit makes people dumbfounded, which is more helpless to life, but at the same time there is no lack of perseverance in the courage of life.

My 2021 resolution: Burn your New Year's resolutions list
Once again, I fell for the "new year, new me", the unoriginal and diminishing social promise that this would finally be the year when I would become all of what I had always dreamed of, and when I would unlock all my raw potential into proving a triumphant woman. I helped to plan this magical party that would, at last, prove that I was worthy of self-admiration and success. I spent days thinking what my new year’s resolutions would be for 2021, after a dreadful, slow 2020.

Be, and do it well
Whenever someone starts talking about wellness goals and a healthier lifestyle, my mind autofills the standard droning list: less screen time, eat better, sleep more, save money, etc. etc. My eyes glaze over just thinking about it. We know. We all know what we’re expected to do when January 1st rolls around. And, we all know what happens by January 3rd. It’s hard to overhaul deeply ingrained habits for no reason other than a flip on the calendar and an increase in gym advertisements. Does all this "New Year, New Me" really motivate us to do better or does it just remind us of who we aren’t? True lifestyle changes happen when you actually enjoy what you are doing and when you do it with other people. There has to be a reason for the change other than a number on a scale or a box to check off. Those types of extrinsic motivations simply don’t last long.

Choose your Attitude Consciously . Top Story - January 2021.
We are taught in modern self-help literature that ‘life isn’t fair’. We are taught to choose our attitudes in how to deal with life’s unfairness. As Victor Frankl, Auschvitz survivor and psychotherapist states in 'Man’s Search for Meaning '

Kindness
Kindness is a conundrum. It brings up questions we don’t have answers to like why do humans show kindness? Is it because they want to help others? Or is it because they want to feel better about themselves? Psychological egoism is the construct that all people are selfish and do everything for selfish reasons. That every act of kindness has an ulterior motive. But is this true? And how do we disprove it?

Relearning The Art Of Being Grateful
I've been through a lot of things that my conscious mind likes to repress. That being said, it is easy for my mind to drift into a depressive funk. For years, the only way to battle my negative thoughts and memories were the loathsome tasks of putting myself to bed early, distracting myself, or staring at a wall. It was easier to stare at a wall and think of nothing, than deal with negative obsessive thoughts. 2020 negatively impacting everyone around me did little to help the situation. If I was not in a bad mood, the first person I came across usually was. My day might start okay, but it took less than an hour at work for someone to come ruin it.

Reimagining My Resolutions for 2021
In past years, my resolutions have been aimed towards vague self-improvement over the coming year. They took the forms of various goals such as “workout 3 times a week”, “get a promotion at work”, and “read 1 book a month”. I felt that if I achieved them, I would be fulfilled; however, I would instead be left disappointed by the lack of satisfaction upon completion. These goals would also cause me to have a “what’s next” mentality in which I was anxiously preoccupied with what I had to do following my current action to accomplish my goals. It was upon realizing this that I decided to switch things up for my resolutions this year; instead of choosing distant goals, I am focusing on intentions that can guide me in my journey. I was able to do this by practicing a self-reflective “seeing” exercise and shifting my mindset about pursuing goals.

dreamer vs. DREAMER!
A quick thing about me will help me convey the message for today; I tend to eavesdrop on conversations I have no business being a part of. What can I say, I just love a good story! Whenever I walk to my next destination I always keep an ear out for any information I could potentially use. Not in a blackmail/gossip sort of way, but in an honest search for key phrases for me to bring up for someone else's benefit at some future time. You may think that's weird; low key I agree with you. I simply can't help it. I have found this little habit to be useful in such big ways!
