Last night I slept for four hours. During past fasts I didn’t sleep much either. I’ve read other’s experiences with fasting online and this is common.

It takes me a couple hours to fall asleep, and when I finally do I need to get up in the middle of the night to use the washroom because of all the water I drank during the day. I don’t usually fall back asleep.

However, I don’t feel sleepy throughout the day. It feels like my body receives the amount of sleep it needs, which is significantly less than when I’m eating. The internet doesn’t offer anything concrete on this. As I’ve mentioned before there isn’t extensive research on fasting.

I woke up feeling good today considering I haven't eaten for eight days. I’m not feeling as weak as I was a couple days ago, though I’m still going through litres of water for energy.

My first colon hydrotherapy session was interesting. Before I started this fast I ate a lot of fruits and vegetables because I had gone grocery shopping a few days prior as I wasn’t aware I’d be fasting. I am being guided to do this fast. I have been guided to do all my fasts.

If you’re wondering why you can read about it by clicking the story below.

The fruits and vegetables helped with getting a lot of waste moving through my bowels. To prepare for the fast I did a three day liquid diet. I only drank broth and unsweetened fruit juices, and took a laxative on the final day. This resulted in watery bowel movements.

I don’t want stool sitting in my intestines for 40 days. I read that if it just sits there it can get quite hard. I do recall from my last fast, which was 10 days, that my first bowel movement afterwards required extra pushing.

My sister is experienced with colon hydrotherapy. She booked us into a spa in a 4.5 star hotel downtown. I don’t really go out when I fast, except to run an errand or go to the temple. I stay in isolation. Fasting is spiritual. It’s a time to get close with God. It’s rooted in religion. A decree from the highest realm.

The facility exuded an aura of wellness. I was given instructions, and then left alone. There was a call button if I needed help or had questions. The attendant put a brand new tube on the contraption I would be lounging on. I stripped from the waste down and inserted the tube into my butthole. She came back to the room to turn the machine on and left me to my business. Right away I felt water splash throughout my colon. When I felt cramps I pushed, and I could watch what came out. At first it was water, then brown water, and then stool. During the last 10 to 15 minutes I watched clear water come out mixed with mucus.

I was knackered by the time I got home. I got the urge and passed a watery brown bowel movement. I wonder why it didn’t come out during the session? I tried to nap, but sleep evaded me, and then I passed another watery brown bowl movement.

Would I do it again? I found it unpleasant to push for 45 minutes, most likely because my energy levels are low, so I’m undecided. I think my bowels are clean enough for the fast.

My sister always feels a difference. She feels lighter and has more energy. She sleeps better. It’s hard to say for me. Fasting dominates all other feelings. I’m light and floaty. Some days I feel weak, and other days I have energy. At times I feel nauseous. I have to contend with a sour taste on my tongue, which sometimes also contributes to the nausea. Time will tell if fasting with an empty bowel makes any difference.

A lot of benefits to colon hydrotherapy have been by cited individuals in the industry, and by those who have done it. Apparently, when coupled with a healthy lifestyle, it can help to alleviate digestive issues, and a host of other ailments like headaches, acne, and lethargy. The medical community says there’s no evidence to support this. Personally, I like to take people’s experiences into consideration. If you have done it let me know your thoughts.
