A Companion Piece to "Unloved By Vocal Creators"

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published about a year ago • 3 min read

Introduction

I have written a few pillar posts on the stories that don't seem to have favour with Vocal or Vocal Creators but still have a lot of reads:

ANNA pointed out that reads meant that non-Vocal readers appreciated my work.

These are exceptions rather than the rule so I thought I would do a pillar post of the stories that Vocal and Vocal Creators have shown that they appreciate.

Basically, it is simply any story with more than sixty Vocal hearts regardless of reads.

The thing is, unless you are a new Creator or reader you will have probably read all these stories, but if you haven't this is just to illustrate that Vocal Creators do appreciate a lot of my work.

The music is "You Love Us" by The Manic Street Preachers.

I will include some notes with each story.

So here we go.

Loved By Vocal Creators

Vocal Hearts: 78 Reads: 338

This was a Vocal Tautogram Challenge entry that got a Top Story but, of course, never placed in the Challenge.

Vocal Hearts: 65 Reads: 260

Another Voca Challenge entry that got a Top Story nomination but was not good enough, in Vocal's opinion. for a Challenge placement.

Vocal Hearts: 64 Reads: 180

Another Top Story and there is a correlation that if you get a Top Story then you get more Vocal Hearts regardless of the quality of the story. I do believe that all my stories are worth reading if they cover something that interests you, but the only one who will read all my work is me.

Vocal Hearts: 89 Reads: 172

Some musings on how being on the Vocal platform has affected me, and, you guessed it, it was a Top Story.

Vocal Hearts: 65 Reads: 168

Thoughts on how getting a Top Story is like a drug and if we don't get one, how it does affect us even if we and others think it should be a Top Story. Of course, it was one.

Vocal Hearts: 67 Reads: 155

This was for a Vocal Microfiction Challenge and, yes it was a Top Story, and no it didn't place.

Vocal Hearts: 78 Reads: 139

My first Unloved one and it is getting a little tedious to say what it is. That is seven so far that have all been Top Stories.

Vocal Hearts: 76 Reads: 117

A piece about the benefits for everyone provided by libraries, and you know what it is.

Vocal Hearts: 61 Reads: 116

My story that analogised the effect of short format Vocal Challenges, and it was another bloody Top Story, which is generally the thing that boosts the Vocal Hearts.

Vocal Hearts: 72 Reads: 111

A piece about why I love writing on Vocal, and why, despite everything, I will be here for a very long time. Going forward I will only mention if the story is not a Top Story. This one was a Top Story.

Vocal Hearts: 68 Reads: 101

This one was done at the request of a close friend. She loved it.

Vocal Hearts: 71 Reads: 100

A thank you piece to everyone who reads our stories. You can see although the reads are going down the Vocal Hearts are all over the place, so there is little correlation.

Vocal Hearts: 72 Reads: 98

People often berate me for criticizing Vocal but this is one of probably more than a hundred pro-Vocal pieces of mine.

Vocal Hearts: 65 Reads: 89

This was a piece on the AI Art I use for my Vocal stories.

Conclusion

I think that is the lot (I think) and they were all Top Stories so, if you get a Top Story you will get Hearts. I have a lot with fifty to sixty hearts that were not Top Stories but maybe they will get in there one day.

Thank you for reading

Like walking the humble path to writing success. Applause to all the accomplishment and hope you have many more,

True! Almost all of my Top Stories are on the first page of my dashboard with the most reads and likes... I'm not really surprised though, because that's what makes a Top Story, isn't it? Thank you for the mention btw!! <3

That's an impressive list, Mike. I haven't read some of them, so there's catching up to do! I appreciate you.
