Reducing unhealthy conflict
I talk with people about conflict a lot. Often, couples come to speak to me about their cycle of conflict, or negative cycle, because the way that they are in conflict is causing problems in their lives. Sometimes family members come for similar reasons. I find that people often want to banish conflict from their lives entirely, but the avoidance of conflict causes difficulties too — mostly a lack of connection and understanding and this is a huge sacrifice to make for a peaceful life. So I talk to people about the difference between healthy conflict and unhealthy conflict, or ways that people can disagree without getting into arguments. Healthy conflict causes the energy that we need for change. Put another way, you can’t polish a gem without a little friction!

Healing my Zombie Self
Tara Brach, one of the teachers in my Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program, talks often about how we all fall into trance and forget the true nature of our being. Truly, I have lived in this trance for years at a time in the past and still struggle with falling into and out of these zombie states of mind. I believe there are some who never know anything but the trance this temporal existence provides us with. Or maybe it's not the temporal existence giving us anything but the interpretation of such an existence. We are taught that we are separate beings from the time we are very small children and into the rest of our lives.

Love Matters Session Number 2
Hello there! I promised to come back and revisit Rules 2 and 9 from my Ten Online Dating Rules and I will do that in a second. But first, I have to visit that statement and explore what exactly are we doing in this dating world. Are we done with trying? I certainly hope that all hope is not lost! There has to be someone else out that with an ounce of romantism left in them. Has waiting for better, left us all bitter?
