Look, I know what you're thinking. The Bachelor, really? I expect you think this is yet another one of the Internet's long-winded defenses of reality TV from the perspective of a reality TV addict. And if the subject here is a "guilty-pleasure" show, i.e., the kind of show that offers an escape from reality, how is that a reality television show like The Bachelor can possibly offer some kind of escape from our present reality? Dive Down Gravity Falls
I don’t think there’s much dispute over the fact that shows made for an adult audience (especially ones in recent years) have the freedom to explore more themes and darker twists, show tits, and in general be more fucked up. And while there’s nothing quite like sitting down for hours at a time slurping up a series until you give up on whatever else you had planned for that day, it always leaves me with two very unpleasantly opposing feelings.

As we left 2020 somewhere in the dark past behind us (not that 2021 has been much better), I spent those final few hours before the new year began squeezing in the season finale of The Office. I, and many other fans of the show, spent the precious weeks before January 1st binge watching The Office one last time. For me it was the 5th time through? Maybe 6th? Because Netflix had the audacity to remove it so NBC could hoard the streaming rights for themselves. I get it, but...come on.
