OUTLANDER

A true love story of the past and future.

By Laura mcleanPublished 5 years ago 9 min read

There are so many TV Shows I love to binge-watch. But this one in particular TV show I cant wait for the next season to come out is called outlander. To be able to watch and observe how things were so far back in the past. It's truly unique. I can't look away from the TV when it is on.

I don't even know where to begin. This show is so good that I want everyone to watch it with me. It is kind of an explicit show. I would say it is a rated R show, and they don't leave anything out of this TV show. The OUTLANDER is considered fantasy/ historical fiction. There are actually some critical events and details that are historically accurate. Still, because it is a fictional TV show, some things occur that are plainly inaccurate.

Outlander started off in 1945. Claire is a former WW2 combat nurse. When the war was over, Claire and Frank were trying to get to know each other again. After being away from one another for many years. They go on this adventure to Inverness, Scottland. Frank is researching his family history, but he is particularly interested in his 18th-century ancestor, Johnathan " Blackjack" Randall.

Claire and Frank go visit the CRAIGH NA DUN " the standing stones." Frank and Claire see some local women performing a ritual that appears to be magical. Claire returns to the {Craigh Na Dun} to investigate a plant she saw. As she is looking at the flower, she puts her hand on the rock and is magically transported back in time 200 years.

Traveling through the stones knocked her out, and she woke up the next day but in 1743. As she wakes up, there was a redcoat, and he was an ancestor of her husbands {Jack Randall}. He attempted to take claire prisoner, but Claire is saved by the locals.

Claire meets a few people that can time travel to. Claire meets {Geillis} witch is a time traveler too. Now that she realizes that she is not in her own time anymore, she's not sure what is going on, just that the redcoats want to take her prisoner. Claire meets Jamie, and they get married to keep Claire safe from the redcoats.

After Claire and Jamie were married, Claire tries to escape from everyone and tries to return to the stones, and hopefully back to her own time. But she is captured by Jack Randall, and she is nearly assaulted, but Jamie rescues her once again. Claire is unsure what to think about Jamie at that time, but she grew to trust him and love him. She went through so much in 1743.

Claire and Geillis were accused of witchcraft, and in return, they almost were burnt at the stake, but Jamie makes it just in time to save Claire and leaves Geillis behind to face her fate. After being rescued by Jamie repeatedly, Claire is honest with Jamie about where she comes from and how she comes to be in his timeline and not her own. Jamie offers to take her back to the stones, but she decided to stay in 1743.

There will be many spoilers in this, I'm sorry, but this began off with spoilers. I want to tell you everything that happens in the OUTLANDER. I just love it so much.

Jamie takes Claire to his family's house in Lallybroch. Jamie is betrayed by the redcoats and taken prisoner at Wentworth prison. There, he is tortured by Jack Randall and is sentenced to be executed, but Claire rescued Jamie this time.

While this commotion is happening, Frank Randall is searching for his missing wife, Claire, but there is no trace of her anywhere. The police assume she simply ran away. But unknowingly, she did not mean to run away or time travel back in time. Some things just happen.

They just put season 4 on Netflix. They are taking their time on adding any new seasons. I read online that there are 7 seasons altogether. I think that's what they were saying. But there is so much good stuff threw out all the seasons they have on there now. And they keep you coming back for more. They are always leaving the end of the season a cliff hanger.

In season 2, there is a change in scenery for Claire and Jamie. They travel to France in hopes they will be able to thwart the Jacobite uprising and prevent the slaughter that Claire knows is coming. They have to do it secretly, and as publicly {at least, in their circle}, Jamie has to be seen as a supporter of Bonnie Prince Charlie. Despite their best efforts, Claire and Jamie fail to stop the coming war and return to Scotland to do what they can to limit the damage of the war.

So now I am going to tell you what parts I liked the most. Basically, I love every detail of OUTLANDER. I can watch it all over and over again. My daughter told me that out of all the old shows I watch that OUTLANDER is the only one she likes.

I just finished season 4 tonight. In season 3, Claire's husband passes away, and Breanna is all grown up. So Claire decides to go back through the rocks to find Jamie. Jamie was all she could think about. She missed him so much.

Claire finally tells Breanna who her real father is and how they met. But Breanna didn't believe anything her mother was saying. Breanna told her mother she was talking crazy. When Claire decided to go back to Jamie, she brought Breanna with her to the stones to watch her travel through them back in time.

When Breanna saw her mother disappear before her eyes, and couldn't believe it. Breanna would not believe it until she saw it for her own eyes. From that day on, she knew anything could happen. Breanna keeps an eye on the history books for her mother and her father's names and what they accomplished and the hard times they went through.

In 1766 Claire and Jamie reunited in Edinburg after 20 years apart. Jamie's family was not so happy to see Claire. Jamie had to lie to them and tell them all that Claire abandoned him. Then come back after 20 years.

Before Jamie and Claire reunite, Jamie has to continue living without Claire. Never knowing if he will ever see her again or not. Jamie had to work off his sentence as an indentured servant at the estate of Lord Ellesmere. Jamie is blackmailed into sleeping with Geneva, the lord's young fiance, and gets her pregnant. Geneva dies in childbirth, and Jamie's child is raised as a young lord. Jamie marries Laoghaire, and they lived miserably. Jamie leaves her for Edinburgh, where he opens a print shop.

Claire, on the other hand, is trying to finish school while taking care of Breanna. Claire graduates as a doctor while raising Breanna with Frank. However, Frank is sleeping with someone else. There was a big argument between Frank and Claire.

Brianna graduates high school, and Frank was offered a job in Cambridge. While Frank was in Cambridge, he happens to get into a car crash and dies.

It's so exciting when you figure out that Claire will time travel again, back to Jamie. You wonder how long it will take her to find Jamie and if Jamie is going to tell Claire that he's married to someone else now, or if he is going to leave his second wife and go back to Claire. It has you sitting on the edge of your seat until Claire finds Jamie and they get back together.

Now that Claire and Jamie are back together, they start another journey together. They run into a familiar face- Geillis. she took Ian captive. Geillis is looking for gemstones to travel through time again, trying to use a cave on the island and Ian as a sacrifice.

Jamie and Claire are trying to return to Scotland, but they are shipwrecked and land on a beach in the new world. They are so happy that they lived through the wreck and run to each other and hug. As they are celebrating the arrival in the new world, a family walks up to them. That's how they found out that they made it to the new world.

Claire and Jamie manage to make their way to North Carolina. There, Jamie is offered land and incentives to stay and help colonize, so they remain. They head up to Aunt Jocasta's plantation to a relative of Jamie's. And from there, they can figure out where to settle and call their own land.

In 1767 Claire, Jamie, and their family decide on a piece of land, naming it Fraser's Ridge. They start to make the place their own and recruit others to settle nearby. So the others living on the grounds have to pay taxes to Jamie. That way, Jamie can pay the taxes on the 10,000 acres of land they are given.

In the meantime, Breanna and roger grow closer. They have their ups and downs, just like any other couple does. Rodger discovers some historical records showing where claire and Jamie were living in Carolina. Roger also discovers that claire and Jamie were killed in a house fire. Roger calls Breanna to let her know what he has found but only tells her half of the information found.

Breanna, only knowing half of the story and only the good parts of the story, Breanna goes looking for more info on her own. Breanna discovers how her mother and father die, she decides to travel through time.

Breanna wants to go back to save her mother and father. The only problem is the newspaper she got the information from. The date on the form was smudged and unreadable. Breanna didn't know if it was 10days or 10years that the fire would happen. All she knew was she wanted to get to her mother as soon as possible to inform her of what she found before it was too late.

When Rodger finds out that Breanna went back in time and was unsure if she would make it back, Breanna told Rodger not to follow her. Rodger decides to follow her anyway. Love has no boundaries and can be chased anywhere.

That was the sweetest thing I have ever seen done in the name of love. He traveled back in time to find the love of his life and make sure she was safe and got where she was going. they both end up on different ships headed to the same place. {the new world}, but they end up meeting up in Wilmington. They are hand-fasted, but she later storms off and runs into trouble, Stephen Bonnet, who rapes her.

Breanna's handmaiden starts talking to the locals and finds out that Breanna's parents are there in the same town right now. Breanna finds her father first, and then he takes her to her mother. Their faces were priceless when they saw her there in their time.

Claire and Jamie take Breanna back to Fraser's Ridge. Roger attempts to follow them. But thanks to a series of misunderstandings, Jamie believes that he is the one who attacked Brianna, beats him to a pulp, and hands him over to the local Mohawk tribe. Breanna finally tells her family that she is pregnant and heads to Riverrun to have the baby safely. Breanna finally clears up who her attacker was. Jamie feels terrible that he sent his daughter's love to the Indians and head to where they live to get Rodger back. Ian decides to be the one they will trade to get Rodger back. And Ian is adopted into the tribe.

Jamie and Claire make it back to Rivverrun, and they tell Breanna about Rodger. As they are packing their stuff up to head back to Fraser's Ridge, Breanna looks out her window and sees a horse coming up the way. She thinks nothing of it and runs out of the house and threw the yard, she runs and jumps into Rodgers arms and the hug and kiss. Rodger asks about his son and wants to see him.

The OUTLANDER is always leaving you hanging at the end of a season, and they did just that. They leave it off where Jaime is then approached by a band of Redcoats, who have ridden up to find him and request that he forms a militia.

I can't wait for the next season to come out on Netflix. I hope it goes on forever. I can never get sick of watching this show. It's just the best show ever.
