The Rachels - 2025
Much to my surprise, I have kept a list of the films I‘ve seen this year. I daresay it isn’t complete. There will be films that snuck in on a late night in front of the TV that I would’ve forgotten to note. Or others, that I went to watch at the cinema, but then had a red wine and promptly forgotten about. But it’s not a bad approximation of the films I’ve seen this year. In total, there are 53 films listed, so an average of one a week and one for good luck.

Marvel Zombie
The last entry into our 2025 superhero projects catalogue is Marvel Zombies. This was a show that was anticipated by absolutely no one and it disappeared from the public consciousness as quickly as it was released. There was nothing special about the project that made it a must see, or a must remember. In fact if anything it's a must forget.

Book Review: "Human Monsters: A Horror Anthology" by Various Authors
Yes, it's horror again. I'm feeling kind of down and whenever I'm down I read horror because it makes me feel better. Have you heard about that study that states people who are in depression should watch and read horror in order to make themselves feel better? Yeah, I checked it out some time ago - you should too. Human Monsters is exactly what you think it is, it is about monsters who are human - those who lurk in the normal world, not in the shadows, not in the darkness - they stand right in front of us. They are us. Let's go through my favourite stories in the anthology...

Thank You, John Cena
When December 13, 2025 arrived, I welcomed it. I welcomed it with open arms. The reason was simple: I wanted to see how John Felix Anthony Cena, Jr, someone who I've been a fan of for over 20 years, would end his iconic and legendary career.

Bugonia
Okay so I have a love-hate relationship with Yorgos Lanthimos. He is either brilliant, or he’s a self indulgent mess with no message of any kind and there really doesn’t seem to be any in between. So watching his movies is tedious. That said he always manages to pull in actors that I love so I always bite the bullet and watch whatever he puts out. This year's entry is Bugonia. And from a hit or miss director this one is a hit.

Book Review: "A Book Forged in Hell" by Steven Nadler
I have to admit that even when I was studying my modules of Western Philosophy whilst doing my Master's Degree, Spinoza was not my strong suit nor did he interest me very much. I knew a bit about his philosophy and his rationalisations and I had read parts of the book that The Book Forged in Hell speaks of. But I think the one thing that this book did is reignite a want to know more about philosophies I perhaps need to learn more about. I may not have had that much of an interest before, but this book has definitely created somewhat of a curiosity in me. Yes, before you ask - I read it on my phone...

No One Mourns The Wicked Reveals Glinda's Sad Fate
"And goodness knows the wicked's lives are lonely. Goodness knows the wicked die alone. It just shows when you're wicked, you're left only on your own," Glinda sings during the first song in the musical Wicked. To those gathered, and even to the audience, she seems to be singing about the Wicked Witch of the West, aka Elphaba.

Book Review: "How to Change Your Mind" by Michael Pollan
I had the entirely wrong idea about this book. I was reading on my phone when I finished the last book and wanted to start a new one. Thus, I quickly bought this on the cheap and started reading. I thought it was going to be about changing your mind, like actually changing it by using therapy techniques and the like. It's about LSD and psychedelics. But it's also about depression, anxiety, dying, terror, mythologies of humanity etc. Interesting and actually pretty well-written - I have absolutely no regrets of not reading the blurb when it came to this book even though I don't particularly agree with everything within. Let's take a look at what it is about then...
