A Film Addict Reviews! Kick Ass
During the time when the Marvel Cinematic Universe was about to fully take off, superhero movies were the big money maker for studios. The issue is that R rated superhero movies don’t perform too well at the box office. Marvel tried it with a couple of their properties in the 90s and it didn’t pan out too well. This film tries to change that.

Looking For Meaning Where There Is None...
I was not going to write a post on David Lynch's movie Mulholland Drive (2001), but could not help it, really. The reason being while studying the history of cinematography, I came across an interpretation of the movie by some Russian guy 'Roman' - his YOUTUBE name -who thinks he has finally nailed it. Roman's explanations and parallels, though intriguing and even sex-charged, as based on Sigmund Freud theories, are just one of many guesses and views of what the Mulholland Drive (2001) can be about. Roman, as many others before him, tried to bring sense to the senseless happenings in the movie and bring it all to some sort of comprehension.

‘The Swerve’ Is an Epic Downer of a Movie
With all that 2020 has thrown our way, I don’t blame anyone for seeking soothing, uplifting entertainment. We need every excuse to inject a little happiness in our lives! With that in mind, Dean Kapsalis’ The Swerve may not necessarily be for you — it’s one of the most actively depressing and harrowing movies I have seen all year.

My Review of "Buffaloed"
Buffaloed is a pretty fun movie with a lot of comedy splashed in. They try to add a few social messages throughout this movie much like other movies like The Other Guys and The Big Short. They even try to explain the social issues in details much like they do in these movies as well. The similarities differ in terms of the actual story though.

I Put A Spell On You
A classic fairy tale with new and exciting twists and turns sounds like a hit, but, unfortunately this read was a little disappointing. At first glance, it had the ingredients to be the perfect book for me, but then it just fell flat. After I was done reading--and even while I was reading--the story just never seemed to get off the ground.

My Review of "The Invisible Man"
The Invisible Man is a movie that I didn't think I would like as much as I did. I'm not normally into horror movies but this one was done pretty well. This isn't only a very entertaining movie but also has some hidden messages within the movie itself. Of course there are some science fiction elements that you'll just have to go with but for the most part they explain most of it pretty well.

Mr. Love: Queen's Choice Anime Thoughts
Things I Loved: Lucien is A LOT more likable. Lucien has a lot of fans. Because, well, we're suckers for dreamy, morally gray character with a romantic side. But, I think even his biggest fans will admit there's moments in the game where he's a bit...creepy. Some of this could be owed to Bill Rogers voice acting in the English server: Though he gives Lucien a calm, relaxing voice--there's also a lot of sinister undertones to everything he says. In the anime, I found myself sympathizing for Lucien a lot more than I did in the game. He seems warmer, friendlier, and less suspicious. In the game, even before he was revealed to be working with Black Swan, I always thought something seemed "off" about him. But in the anime, even knowing he's not who he claims to be, I still found myself trusting him. When he does do cold, heartless things, he seems like a cool anime villain while doing it. I know I'm not the first person to make this comparison, but he really is Light Yagami as a scientist. But, unlike Light, part of you does want to like Lucien and see him be redeemed. Also we get to learn more about his backstory, which helped me sympathize more with him and understand why he is the way he is. (Not that that excuses anything, of course.) He's more well-rounded here, I think. And that's pretty impressive because it's usually the opposite for adaptations. So kudos!

The Giver
This was a reread for me, but it made me remember how much I enjoy this book. It has been a long time since I read this book for the first time, but as I was scanning the shelves for something to read, there was something about this title that caught my eye. As I was reading, I was flooded with memories (no pun intended) of what it was like reading this when it was recommended to me by my elementary school librarian. Reading it now, I had a different appreciation for the story being told, but I remembered how impactful the concept of this story was to me even as a younger reader.
