My Review of "The Invisible Man"
A thriller of a movie that will capture you from start to finish.

The Invisible Man is a movie that I didn't think I would like as much as I did. I'm not normally into horror movies but this one was done pretty well. This isn't only a very entertaining movie but also has some hidden messages within the movie itself. Of course there are some science fiction elements that you'll just have to go with but for the most part they explain most of it pretty well.
This movie starts off with a bang! The main character is a woman by the name of Cecilia. It's late at night and she seems to be sneaking out for some reason. The film is directed really well because there are no words exchanged yet I understood exactly what was going on. Even though she's with her spouse in bed it seemed as though she's a captive of the house. She's trying to escape the place and you can see all of the security at this house. Fortunately Cecilia is a smart cookie and has planned out her escape because she knows how to get in and out of everything.
It's a nail biter right from the get-go with her trying to sneak out of the house and then when she gets out of the confines of the estate she is met by a car driven by her sister. Her sister doesn't seem to know what's going on and the panic continues to elevate throughout the scene. You see a man running at the car. Cecilia panics and screams for her sister to go but she's not moving. Next thing you know Cecilia's spouse breaks the car window with a punch. The two finally get going in the car.
As you can tell this is the kind of scenes you're going to be expecting throughout the movie. It is absolutely heart pounding while you watch this movie. They purposely add in lulls in the movie for the audience to catch their breathe and again become paranoid of what's to come.
Weeks later after the crazy turn of events, Cecilia stays at a friend's place and is understandably scared to even step outside the door. She's convinced her husband is still after her and set to kill her. Rightfully so too because her husband is manipulative sociopath.
Next thing you know we find out that her husband has committed suicide. They show us the images of her husband's body before they cremated his body. There's a bit of relief but then again we already know what's going to happen since the movie is called The Invisible Man and we have so much movie left over.
As the two were still married when she escaped she now inherits millions of dollars from her husband. You can tell something is fishy already because the statement that her husband had written to her sounded like a revenge message.
Soon after this we start to see some crazy things happen around Cecilia. It starts off small and then starts to get bigger and bigger. Pretty soon this invisible man isn't even hiding anymore. He's basically tormenting Cecilia.
The cool thing about this is that they kind of twist it on the viewers. We start seeing messages of domestic abuse and who you should believe in situations of abuse. There are a few scenes where the invisible man kind of frames Cecilia to look like the crazy one. People that know her very well start believing certain things that you would think they'd give her some slack on. Then again they don't suspect anyone having any agenda against her since her tormentor is dead.
So there's a ton of interesting elements in this movie. The filmmakers keep the viewers guessing throughout the movie. Is she crazy or is someone out to get her? They even give other people motives to come after her so you start guessing certain characters in the movie as well. It's a huge wild rollercoaster ride that you will enjoy throughout the runtime of the movie.
I have to say that I was a little hesitant myself when it came to this movie. Horror movies aren't my bag but the creepy atmosphere, suspense and anticipation really had me gripped to this one. It was really a pleasant surprise of a movie.
Overall, I've become a fan. This movie had my heart pumping throughout the movie and I loved every second of it. I hope they continue to make movies just as good as this one although this one doesn't really warrant a sequel. I have to give this movie an 8.5 out of 10. It was so fun that I'm sure tons of non-horror fans will get into it as well.
