Soul (2020) Is Beautiful
Anytime a movie trailer is released and you can’t tell what the movie is about, nine times out of ten that’s how you know it’s going to be a great movie. That is especially the case for Soul! Over the years, Pixar has grown in its animation styles in the most amazing way possible. The way Soul depicts the beauty of the small things in life as well as living in the moment, will make you feel more appreciative of your life.

A Filmmaker's Guide to: Dr. Mabuse
In this chapter of ‘the filmmaker’s guide’ we’re actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the ‘filmmaker’s guide’ - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how you’re doing. So, strap in and prepare for the filmmaker’s guide to film studies because it is going to be one wild ride.

A Filmmaker's Review: "Circus of Horrors" (1960)
One of the great horror films of the British Horror Revival makes an appearance on my screen somewhat bi-regularly as a comfort film of mine. For the life of me, I cannot remember where I first saw it or when, but I have watched it multiple times by now and it is nothing new for me to bestow so many praises on this film, apart from some parts of its script which seem a little forced. The sheer violence of this film is absolutely brilliant in contrast to the storyline because it all happens so smoothly. None of it seems out of place and even though we are expecting it, it is still able to provide the shock value that the British Horror Films of the 1960s were so keen to show upon the screen.

A Filmmaker's Review: "All About Eve" (1950)
A brilliant film that I have seen a couple of times now, "All About Eve" is a difficult film to do a review on because you really do not know which concept you want to choose first as your main bit of the review. The genre is a brilliant thing to do it on, but so are the characters and the way in which the power dynamic changes throughout the course of the movie from one character to another is also brilliant. But let us first take a look at what the film is actually about.

King of Monsters Battle Royale
The trailer starts with Kong in chains on a huge battleship, with voice over by a generic white guy saying "We need Kong, for what's coming". So I'm wondering how they caught Kong, wasn't he supposed to get big as big as a skyscraper, enough to fight Godzilla. Even if Kong did grow to much, how do they expect Kong to beat Godzilla if some humans can capture it. Then we see a native girl that Kong has a connection with. This is a trope that needs to die a cold hard death. Anyways, There is another voice over with a generic white women saying, "Kong and her have a bond and she made a promise to protect her and she feels that Kong will to", awhile showing her alone with Kong on the ship. That is probably the funniest thing, I don't know if they plan to use her as bait for Kong's protection or what but it just sounds dumb to me.

Movie Review: 'Supernova' Dying a Hollywood Death
Hollywood sure seems to want to see those who’ve been diagnosed with deathly illnesses dead. I don’t intend to be flippant about life and death and the choices that people make about the end of their life. Nor do I wish to make any kind of political statement regarding end of life and whether or not those with traumatic illness should have a choice in whether or not they end their life.
