Remembering Baby and Johnny
A modern-day couple similar to all the great lovers of history were Baby and Johnny who met at a resort one summer in the lovely Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. The actors Jennifer Grey and the dynamic and handsome Patrick Swayze who left this world much too soon and now dances among the stars in the skies made these two characters really come alive. The movie was ”Dirty Dancing” and it got us singing, dancing, romancing and sighing.

The Soul Mate Connection
Back in 1994, I was coming off of a really unsuccessful marriage and all I wanted to do was turn my life around. My mom who at that time had already passed the age of 80 had been eager to return to her homeland Latvia. We also had the task of taking along my father’s urn so he could be reburied in his homeland in Ranka in a country cemetery not too far from where he was born and raised.

All of that combined with the wonderful food, drinks and atmosphere of the cafe.

Backyard Creatures
For many years my trusty digital camera a Pentax Optio W 60 waterproof has never failed me. In the early morning stepping out on my second-floor floor front porch I looked down into the yard and saw what looked like a cat met with an accident. Fluffkins was sunbathing and the sight of him in the morning sunlight made me smile and this was the result.

On Mother's Day
Every Mother’s Day since my mom passed away in 1996 has been pretty painful with memories. I really miss her. Today Mother’s Day is celebrated all over the world. This holiday was created in 1908 by a woman named Anna Jarvis and it became an official holiday in the U.S. in 1914. When this holiday became much too commercialized Jarvis tried to have it denounced.

Always Loving Each Other
Their romance began like so many do. Some said it was true love others said infatuation. She was a simple girl who just wanted to be loved. He was a plain old guy, who wanted to make a home. They came together and the chemistry was just right. She loved to surprise him, to make him laugh, to him she was only true.

What Big Eyes You Have
Aye-ayes are part of the primate order and considered to be long-fingered lemurs. They look something like a cross between a racoon and a rat. They are fairly small around 12 to 16 inches and weigh in at 5 - 6 pounds. They have long bushy tails that are larger than their bodies. They look like they are wearing large, round glasses with their big yellow-orange or sandy brown eyes and seem to have a look of surprise on their faces. Surprisingly despite their small size aye-ayes are the world's largest nocturnal primates. It has also been discovered that they have a sixth finger on each hand giving them an extra thumb.
