Colors Of My World
A poem inspired by the colors around me

The colors of my world,
sometimes seem to fade,
from brightness to darkness
and never stay the same.
Then with poetic words,
instead of brushes,
with a page,
instead of a palette,
I choose to create –
the colors of my dreams.
White clouds,
like sailing ships upon a sky of brilliant blue,
wildflowers,
in colors of red, purple and yellow,
in a green meadow.
The yellow sand beneath my feet,
by a sea-green ocean,
where waves with white foam caps,
come rushing to shore.
Gulls cry and bid goodnight,
against a blazing sun of reddish-orange,
as it slowly dips into the ocean.
The black of night descends,
stars pop out like glittering diamonds
and the golden moon,
winks from above.
Night clouds play hide and seek,
as the moon peeks out from behind,
while the ocean reflects a silvery bridge,
that beckons me to the other side.
When suddenly the colors all change,
as pink and white swirls fill the sky at dawn
and a red sun says good morning,
as it comes out of the ocean.
The beauty is breathtaking
all these and so much more –
are the colors of my world.
