Remembering Baby and Johnny

A poetic retelling of their story

By Rasma RaistersPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A modern-day couple similar to all the great lovers of history were Baby and Johnny who met at a resort one summer in the lovely Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. The actors Jennifer Grey and the dynamic and handsome Patrick Swayze who left this world much too soon and now dances among the stars in the skies made these two characters really come alive. The movie was ”Dirty Dancing” and it got us singing, dancing, romancing and sighing.

Baby was a young lady

Who still had stars in her eyes

She never thought that she’d find

Such a love at a Catskill resort

The moment she laid eyes on Johnny

There were sparks that flew

Never had she quite danced that way

When Johnny beckoned her to come

It didn’t take long

For Baby to realize

She had found a man she adored

And had to stop being just” daddy’s little girl”

For them the summer became magic

Together how they danced

Coming together in a great romance

She had hungry eyes

They sizzled on the screen

To the delight of many

Baby and her Johnny

Were quite a pair

It was summer

And the dances lit flames

While everyone

Cheered them on

When Johnny lost his job

Baby stood by her man

It took a strong woman

To admit to the love they had

But Johnny couldn’t leave his Baby behind

He came back to let them all know

She was his woman and his love

Baby and Johnny discovered their love had blossomed

For Baby and for Johnny

It was the greatest summer of all

It gave hope that their love would go on

And they found they’d had the time of their lives
