Pastoral
I’ve just been listening to “Ummagumma” by Pink Floyd and I particularly love the pastoral relaxing feel of “Grantchester Meadows” by Roger Waters and thought that would be something that I would like to write for a close special friend of mine. I could also choose Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony but it was the Roger Waters song that inspired this.

A Saucerful of Secrets by Pink Floyd
“A Saucerful of Secrets” - A Turning Point For Pink Floyd In many ways "A Saucerful of Secrets" could be considered Pink Floyd's most pivotally important album. It is not their most musically important, or their best album although in my opinion is it very good and contains some of my favourite Pink Floyd songs

Losing Vocal Friends and Finding Vocal Friendship
I don’t know what it was, but it came to mind how my Vocal friends seem to be in an almost constant state of flux. Many people I used to engage with seem to have disappeared from my circle, although new ones are constantly coming into it.

The River of Time
I think this came about because I am reading “The Fabulous Riverboat” the second book in Philip Jose Farmer’s “Riverworld” series, plus the songs “River of Dreams” by Billy Joel and “River of Salt” by Bryan Ferry with the addition of an inspirational spark that I always have resulted in this poem.

You Angel You
Some people in the USA and Canada can't see the video above, hopefully this will work for you. I was listening to some music and the song above came on, the phrase "You Angel You" is perfect for someone who has been with me every moment through my recent trials, and she is still looking out for me now.

Gris-gris - Voodoo New Orleans Gumbo from Dr John
An Introduction To Gris-gris By Dr John Although I love a lot of his albums, “Gris-gris” by Dr John (Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. <November 20, 1941 – June 6, 2019>) is one of the most brilliantly disconcerting albums in my extensive collection.

Why I Walk
My Health I am extremely lucky. In the past few years, consultants have delivered me some not-good news about my health including possible strokes, heart attacks, cirrhosis of the liver, and liver cancer. Each time I have pointed out that I can walk away from the meeting with this news aware that I have to take better care of myself, which with the NHS in this country is fairly easy for me.

Chanukah Yule Christmas
I hear about Good Will To All Men (what about Women) at Christmas, and feel that every day we should give Good Will to All, Humans and Animals, every day. This is a free-form point based on a positive statement for every statement of every Festival.

In The Lifeboat
This is for the Vocal "Ship of Dreams" Challenge on the 110th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. That’s why I am freezing to death, clinging to what’s left of a table because I cannot really swim, and hoping that I can forget the cold as I watch the Titanic slowly slipping into the watery oblivion of the Atlantic after the iceberg hit. I was even more scared when the first funnel collapsed but it didn’t hit the sea near me, but I am so frightened.

The Joy of The Penguin Café
Introducing The Penguin Cafe Orchestra and Simon Jeffes Many years ago I saw a video featuring penguins and loved the music that was used as the soundtrack. The piece was “Beanfields” by The Penguin Café Orchestra, who up to that point I had been totally unaware of.

A Pride of Lions
The Stonewall riots (also known as the Stonewall uprising or the Stonewall rebellion) were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the gay community in response to a police raid that began in the early morning hours of June 28, 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighbourhood of New York …
