Six Hundred Vocal Stories

This Has Been An Amazing Ride So Far

Six Hundred Roman Style

Introducing An Addiction To Writing And Sharing On Vocal

This is my six hundredth story on Vocal, well it will be posted as my six hundredth story. I am preparing it before number five hundred and ninety-nine is published. Because I cannot guarantee the order in which my stories will be published I need to hit five hundred and ninety-nine then submit this on its own and wait for it to be published, The only slight problem is if I have to ask for an older story to be moved to draft which will then cause this to drop back to five hundred and ninety-nine, but that is the nature of the beast.

The Writing Split

About Two Hundred and Fifty of my posts are poetry so that means probably about thirty thousand words, then the rest are articles or fiction (but Vocal calls everything a Story) so that clocks in at at least a quarter of a million words and combining the two it's probably close to three hundred thousand words.

We seldom think about how much we read and write but it could be a great deal. A novel can consist of anything from forty thousand to a hundred thousand words or more, and while the number of words is maybe not so relevant the subject and the quality of writing certainly is.

I do like the ability to write short pieces on Vocal, but the six hundred word minimum means some thought and planning has to go into those stories.

Medium allows any length of article and some I've seen I thought were just previews but they were "complete" articles

I originally thought this could be a poem meaning I only would need to write a hundred or so words, but a lot of words fell from my hands but I will still include a semi celebratory poem for you

I tend to make my stories stand alone because I donโ€™t want people to be reading a book, although by popular request, two of my stories have actually had follow-ups.

Because of my ubiquity, especially in the Vocal Social Society, people think I have had a lot of Vocal Top Stories. I have had four, and although I have had a lot of reads, my stories are averaging about twenty reads a story. I have had a lot of reads because I have published a lot of stories.

So the Six Hundred Celebratory Poem

This is just about how I enjoy being a Vocal Writer and sharing my work, especially in the Vocal Social Society and the other Facebook Vocal Groups.

Concluding My Six Hundredth Story

This is just a stopping point on what has been an enjoyable journey so far enabling me to associate with people who can actually write. I am grateful for that. They build me up and tell me I can write but the reality is that I just manage to get a few sentences out that are soon forgotten. Even I have forgotten some of the things I have written.

As my next milestone will be Seven Hundred I will share "Seven Hundred Elves" by Steeleye Span with you.
